Le Petit Clos 2021
In stock
Le Petit Clos 2021 is the second wine of Clos Apalta, yet it should be seen above all as a different interpretation of the same Apalta vineyard. It is a Chilean red wine built as a Bordeaux-style blend, with Carménère taking the leading role alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc.
The fruit comes from the Clos Apalta vineyard near El Cóndor in Apalta. Granite and granodiorite soils, alluvial and colluvial influences, clay subsoils, sandy textures and good drainage all form part of the setting. The 2021 growing season was far from simple, with a wetter winter, unusual rainfall during veraison and a cooler later season that allowed slow ripening while keeping the grapes in good condition.

Le Petit Clos 2020

Le Petit Clos 2020 is the second wine of Clos Apalta, though second should not be read as secondary in ambition. It is a different interpretation of the same Apalta Valley terroir in Chile, made as a red Bordeaux-style blend with Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Petit Verdot. Fruit from younger vines and a different assemblage give it its own place beside the grand vin.
The 2020 vintage was far from straightforward. A dry, warm growing season led to an earlier harvest, with careful parcel-by-parcel decisions needed because ripeness was not uniform everywhere. Even so, the fruit remained healthy and the vintage retained notably good acidity, an important counterpoint to the wine's natural ripeness and concentration.

Clos Apalta 2018
On request only
Clos Apalta 2018 is a red wine from Chile's Apalta Valley, described by the producer as a Bordeaux Blend. Carmenère takes the lead in the 2018 blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving the wine a distinctly Chilean identity while keeping the structure and intention of a carefully composed blend.
The vineyard lies in El Cóndor, within the Colchagua Valley, on well-drained soils influenced by granite, stones and varied alluvial and colluvial material. The producer states organic certification by Ceres and biodynamic certification by Demeter. Apalta's setting, with the Tinguiririca River and the surrounding hills of the Coastal Cordillera, is described by the estate as helping slow ripening and preserve fruit and natural acidity.

Clos Apalta 2018 Demi brings one of Chile's notable red wines from the Apalta Valley into a 37.5 cl half-bottle format. The wine is Bordeaux-inspired in structure, yet clearly shaped by its Chilean identity, with Carménère forming the majority of the blend alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The fruit comes from Clos Apalta Vineyard near Santa Cruz, where 48 hectares are selected within a larger estate. Part of the vineyard dates back to plantings from 1915 to 1940, complemented by younger parcels. The vineyard is certified organic by Ceres and biodynamic by Demeter. Its setting, influenced by the Tinguiririca River and protected by the surrounding hills, is described by the producer as helping slow ripening and retain natural acidity.

Clos Apalta 2019 is a Chilean red wine from the D.O. Apalta, in the Apalta Valley near Santa Cruz. It is Bordeaux-inspired in composition, yet its personality is clearly shaped by Carmenère, the leading grape in the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The wine comes from the Clos Apalta vineyard, set between 185 and 385 metres above sea level and influenced by the Tinguiririca River, the hills of the Coastal Cordillera and old granite and granodiorite-based soils. Part of the vineyard was planted between 1915 and 1940. The estate is certified organic by Ceres and biodynamic by Demeter, with the Apalta terroir very much at the centre of the wine's identity.

Clos Apalta 2019 Demi is the half-bottle format of a concentrated red wine from Chile's Apalta Valley. Carménère forms the heart of the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, giving the wine its full, structured and deeply coloured personality.
The Clos Apalta vineyard lies near Santa Cruz in the Colchagua Valley, shaped by the surrounding Coastal Cordillera hills and the influence of the Tinguiririca River. The 2019 season brought a warm summer, dry harvest conditions and careful canopy and irrigation work in the vineyard. Lower yields and healthy grapes helped define the density of the vintage.
Winemaking here is deliberately serious: a long maceration, fermentation in French oak, malolactic conversion in new French (…)Clos Apalta 2020

Clos Apalta 2020

Clos Apalta 2020 is the grand vin of Clos Apalta in Chile's Apalta Valley, built around Carménère with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. This is a serious red wine from a vineyard described by the estate as an amphitheatre of old, often ungrafted vines, rooted in soils with granite, quartz and clay.
The 2020 vintage was far from straightforward. Drought, heat, frost events and the wider disruption of the pandemic meant that harvesting had to be carried out parcel by parcel. The dry conditions did, however, bring healthy grapes, with high sugar levels, firm tannins and unexpectedly marked acidity in the must. That background helps explain the wine's combination of power and structure.
Winemaking followed the same (…)Clos Apalta 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Clos Apalta 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Clos Apalta 2020 Demi is the half-bottle format of Clos Apalta's grand vin, from the Apalta Valley in Chile. It is a dry red Bordeaux-style blend led by Carménère, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The 37.5 cl bottle makes this serious red wine more flexible at the table, while remaining the official Clos Apalta 2020.
The fruit comes from Apalta, where the vineyard sits in an amphitheatre-like setting with granite-rich soils, old vines and marked day-to-night temperature differences. The 2020 vintage was warm and dry, with an earlier harvest than usual, yet the tasting notes point to retained freshness alongside ripe fruit and concentration.

Clos Apalta 2021

Clos Apalta 2021 is the grand vin of Clos Apalta, from Apalta in Chile's Colchagua Valley. Carmenère leads the blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving the wine a clear sense of place: dark-fruited, spicy and structured, yet carried by enough freshness to keep its power in check.
The 2021 vintage came from an unusual growing season. A mild, wetter winter was followed by wider spring temperature shifts, early flowering and unexpected rain around véraison. The remainder of the season was cooler than the historical average, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and to be harvested in healthy condition. The vineyard sits between 185 and 385 metres above sea level, shaped by the Tinguiririca River and the hills of the Coastal Cordillera, with old, (…)Clos Apalta 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Clos Apalta 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Clos Apalta 2021 Demi is the half-bottle version of the flagship wine from Clos Apalta, the Chilean estate of Domaines Bournet-Lapostolle in Apalta. At 37.5 cl, it is a useful format when you want to open a serious red wine without committing to a full bottle.
Carmenère leads the blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. That gives the wine a clear Apalta identity, while the winemaking reflects the estate's French influence. The 2021 growing season brought slower ripening after rain during véraison, followed by cooler conditions, and the estate describes the vintage as notably aromatic.
In the cellar, the wine underwent a long maceration, fermentation in French oak and 21 months of ageing in French oak barriques. It was bottled without (…)Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2012

Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2012

Clos Apalta Vinothèque 2012 is a library release of Clos Apalta 2012, brought back after extended cellaring by the Bournet-Lapostolle family. That makes it more than a standard vintage release: it is the same underlying wine, but offered after additional bottle ageing under controlled cellar conditions.
The blend is led by Carmenère, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, giving this Chilean red wine a Bordeaux-inspired frame with a clear Apalta identity. The estate refers to organic and biodynamic vineyard management, and for Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon it mentions old ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines planted in 1920.
The winemaking details point to a deliberate, hands-on approach: manual harvesting, full hand-destemming, native (…)Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2013

Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2013

Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2013 is more than a later availability of a respected Chilean red. This is a cellar release from Clos Apalta itself, with bottles kept at the estate for an extended period before being released under the Vinotheque label. It is the same 2013 Clos Apalta at its core, but presented after additional bottle age in controlled cellar conditions.
The wine comes from Apalta in Chile's Colchagua Valley and follows a Bordeaux-inspired direction, led by Carmenère. The blend is 70% Carmenère, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small share of Petit Verdot. Among the vineyard material mentioned are old, ungrafted Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1920. The vineyards were certified organic by CERES and biodynamic by (…)Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2014

Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2014

Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2014 is a limited cellar release from Clos Apalta in Apalta, Chile. It is a Bordeaux-style red blend of 48% Carmenère, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot, but the real interest here lies in the way this vintage has been held back and released in a much smaller Vinotheque selection. Only 150 cases of 9-litre equivalent are stated for this edition, apart from the total production of the vintage. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we introduce for its combination of origin, maturity and scarcity, especially now that only the last bottles remain.
The wine comes from the Clos Apalta Vineyard near Santa Cruz, set in a valley shaped by the hills of the Coastal Cordillera and the Tinguiririca River to the south. Much of its (…)Clos Du Lican 2019

Clos Du Lican 2019

Clos du Lican 2019 is the first commercial vintage of a dedicated single-vineyard Syrah project from Apalta. It sits within the Domaines Bournet-Lapostolle family portfolio, related to Clos Apalta, yet it comes from its own Clos du Lican vineyard in the San José area of the Apalta Valley, around five kilometres from Clos Apalta itself.
The wine is made entirely from Syrah, grown on selected parcels between 185 and 430 metres above sea level. The site is shaped by old granitic and granodioritic soils, good drainage and the particular mesoclimate of Apalta: warm, dry growing conditions, marked day-night temperature differences and a cooling influence from the Tinguiririca River. Those elements help explain the deep colour, firm structure and preserved freshness (…)Clos Du Lican 2020

Clos Du Lican 2020

Clos du Lican 2020 is a Chilean red wine with a very clear identity: not a blend in the style of some Clos Apalta wines, but a single-vineyard Syrah made entirely from one grape variety. It comes from the Clos du Lican vineyard in the San José sector of Apalta, a separate project from the family behind Clos Apalta created to let this particular site speak on its own.
The vineyard lies in the Apalta Valley on granitic and granodioritic soils, with well-drained slopes and the influence of both the coastal hills and the Tinguiririca River. That setting helps explain the style described for the wine: concentrated and ripe, yet with preserved fruit and natural acidity. The 2020 vintage was dry and early, with low disease pressure and a harvest carried out block by block (…)Clos Du Lican 2021

Clos Du Lican 2021

Clos Du Lican 2021 is a Chilean red wine with a very focused identity: one vineyard, one grape variety and a clearly defined origin. It comes from Apalta in the Colchagua Valley and is made from 100% Syrah grown in the Clos du Lican vineyard in the San José sector. The project was created by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and Cyril de Bournet, a few kilometres from Clos Apalta, with the aim of giving this particular Syrah site its own voice.
The vineyard sits between 185 and 430 metres above sea level, in a hilly setting influenced by the cooling presence of the Tinguiririca River. Its stony, well-drained soils are derived from granitic and granodioritic material. Those details matter in the glass: they help frame a full, ripe Syrah that still carries freshness, (…)Epu 2021

Epu 2021

Epu 2021 is the second wine of Almaviva, made in Puente Alto in Chile's Maipo Valley. The name Epu means two in the Mapuche language, a clear reference to its position within the estate. For the 2021 vintage, the blend is led by cabernet sauvignon at 80%, supported by 15% carménère and 5% merlot.
Its appeal lies in the close relationship with Almaviva itself. Epu comes from the same vineyard environment, mainly from younger vines, giving it a more approachable expression while keeping the cabernet-driven identity of Puente Alto. Twelve months in French barriques, with only a modest proportion of new oak, help frame the ripe fruit and savoury spice without pushing the wine into a heavier style.
The 2021 growing season brought its own nuance. (…)Le Petit Clos 2019 Demi (37,5cl)

Le Petit Clos 2019 Demi is the half-bottle format of the second wine from Clos Apalta, produced in Apalta, Chile. At 37.5 cl, it is a practical way to open a serious red wine when a full bottle is not quite needed.
Le Petit Clos was created as another interpretation of the same Apalta terroir. The 2019 vintage is a Chilean Bordeaux-style blend led by Carmenère, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small share of Petit Verdot. It spent 22 months in French oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered, fitting the wine's concentrated and deeply coloured style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a particularly attractive choice for anyone exploring refined, full-flavoured Chilean red wine in a smaller format. The 2019 vintage also received (…)Le Petit Clos 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Le Petit Clos 2019 Magnum is the second wine of Clos Apalta, although that description only tells part of the story. Clos Apalta presents it as another interpretation of the Apalta terroir: a Bordeaux-style red blend led by Carménère, with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot completing the composition.
The 2019 vintage was shaped by a dry, warm season that delivered healthy grapes and lower yields. Fermentation took place in French oak vats, followed by a long maceration with manual punch-downs and extended ageing in French oak. The result is a dry Chilean red wine with a ripe, concentrated profile and a clear sense of structure.

Le Petit Clos 2020 Magnum is the second wine of Clos Apalta, from Chile's Apalta Valley within Colchagua. It is made as a Bordeaux-style blend, led by Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. In the 1.5-litre magnum format, the wine feels especially well placed for a bottle with this level of structure and concentration.
The 2020 growing season was demanding. Clos Apalta reports a severe lack of winter rainfall, a dry and warm spring, frost episodes affecting Cabernet Sauvignon yields, and heatwaves that required careful canopy and irrigation management. The dry conditions also helped keep the grapes healthy, and harvesting was carried out parcel by parcel as ripeness varied across the estate.

Le Petit Clos 2021 Demi is the 37.5 cl half bottle of Clos Apalta's second wine from Apalta in Chile. Rather than being a simplified version of the Grand Vin, it is presented as another interpretation of the same estate and the same Apalta origin, built from the domaine's grape varieties in different proportions.
Carmenère forms the heart of the 2021 blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small share of Cabernet Franc. That places the wine in a Bordeaux-inspired Chilean style, while keeping the Apalta identity clearly in view. The fruit comes from the Clos Apalta vineyard, also known as El Condor de Apalta, farmed organically on old, mainly granitic and granodioritic soils with well-drained slopes.

Le Petit Clos 2021 is the second wine of Clos Apalta, from Apalta in Chile. It is described by the producer as another interpretation of the same Apalta terroir, rather than a simple step down from the main label. Carmenère leads the blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc.
The fruit comes from the Apalta vineyard, managed organically and certified through Sustainable Wine of Chile and Ecocert. The 2021 season was cooler and slower-ripening than the previous years, with healthy grapes and a long harvest window. That background matters here, because the wine combines depth and ripeness with a fresh line through the palate.
Fermentation took place in French oak vats, with a long maceration and manual pigeage. (…)Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a Chilean red wine with a clear focus on Alto Maipo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from a vineyard in the foothills of the Andes, on an alluvial terrace along the southern bank of the Maipo River. Cool mornings and nights are an important part of the setting here, helping to frame the ripeness of the fruit, even in a warmer vintage such as 2020.
There is a personal story behind Muse as well. Aurelio Montes created the wine as a return to his roots in Alto Maipo, the place where he built his experience with Cabernet Sauvignon and the potential of quality wine from Chile. The wine is also presented as a tribute to the women in his family who influenced him.
The production details show a careful, selective (…)
