Chateau Alcee 2020 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon on the Right Bank, with a strong connection to its limestone plateau. The estate belongs to Nicolas Thienpont, and the 2020 vintage is made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has the confident feel of ripe Bordeaux fruit, firm structure and the mineral line associated with the clay-limestone soils around Monbadon and Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe.
The vintage was shaped by careful selection. Parcels affected by hail were left out, keeping production limited. The grapes were hand-harvested, fermented as whole berries in concrete vats with pigeage and remontage, then matured for 12 to 16 months in 225-litre barriques and 500-litre barrels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle sits well among Bordeaux (…)Chateau Alcee 2020 Demi (37,5cl)

Château Alcée 2020 is a dry red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, presented here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is a practical format, but the wine itself has the depth and structure of a serious vintage release.
Produced under Nicolas Thienpont, the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Its setting is an important part of the story: clay-limestone soils on the Castillon plateau, with parcels near Monbadon and Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe. The 2020 vintage was selected with particular care, as hail-affected parcels were kept out of the final selection.
Whole berries were vinified in concrete vats, with pigeage and remontage, before ageing for 12 to 16 months in 225-litre barriques and 500-litre casks. Around half of the barrels (…)Chateau Alcee 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Alcée 2020 in magnum is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, built mainly around merlot with cabernet franc in support. It comes from Château Alcée, the estate established by Nicolas Thienpont in 2011 with parcels on a limestone plateau and clay-limestone soils. That origin is central to the wine's identity, as the tasting impressions repeatedly point to a stony, mineral thread running alongside the ripe dark fruit.
The 2020 vintage required strict selection after hail affected certain parcels. Those parts were kept out of the final blend. The wine was made with whole berries in concrete vats, with pigeage and remontage, then aged for 12 to 16 months in 225- and 500-litre barriques, half of which are renewed each year.

Château Alcée 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, made by Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. The blend is led by Merlot with a smaller share of Cabernet Franc, drawn from clay-limestone vineyards around Monbadon, Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe and Saint-Genès-de-Castillon.
A notable point for this vintage is the inclusion of the best parcels from Bois Perdu, a lieu-dit on red clay that became part of Alcée from 2021 onwards. It reinforces the impression of a wine built around freshness, structure and mineral tension rather than sheer weight or overt oak.
The grapes are vinified as whole berries in concrete vats, with pigeage and remontage during fermentation and maceration. Ageing takes place for 12 to 16 months in (…)Chateau Alcee 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Alcée 2021 Magnum is a red wine from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, presented here in the generous 1.5-litre format. A magnum changes the mood of a bottle: it feels made for a table where the wine can be opened without hurry, shared properly and given a little time to unfold.
The wine is produced by Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. In 2021 the blend is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc playing a supporting role, from parcels on limestone plateaus with clay soils. This vintage also includes, for the first time, the best lots from the Bois Perdu lieu-dit, a four-hectare parcel added to the estate in 2020. That detail matters because it fits the character described for the wine: fresh, juicy Castillon with structure, fruit and a clear limestone (…)Chateau Alcee 2022

Château Alcée 2022 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, made by Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. In this vintage the blend is 100% Merlot, grown on clay-limestone and limestone soils on a plateau. That gives the wine its clear dialogue between ripe dark fruit and the fresher, chalky edge associated with its site.
Harvest took place between 14 and 22 September. The wine was vinified with whole berries in concrete vats, using pigeage and remontage during fermentation, then aged for 12 to 16 months in 225-litre and 500-litre barrels, around half of which are renewed each year. The result is a Castillon with density and structure, but also with a lively mineral line that keeps the wine from feeling heavy.

Chateau Alcee 2022 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, bottled in the generous 1.5 litre magnum format. The wine is part of the estate holdings of Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont, and the 2022 vintage is made entirely from Merlot grown on limestone and clay-limestone soils in Castillon.
There is a clear sense of place in the way this wine is described: ripe Merlot fruit, but with the freshness and grip associated with its limestone plateau. The grapes were harvested in September, fermented as whole berries in concrete vats, and then aged for 12 to 16 months in 225 and 500 litre barrels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux magnum we like to highlight when someone is looking for a wine with substance, ageing (…)Chateau D'Aiguilhe 2022

Chateau D'Aiguilhe 2022

Château d'Aiguilhe 2022 is a dry red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux on the Right Bank. It is the grand vin of the château in Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe, part of Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg and guided by Stephan von Neipperg. For the 2022 vintage, the blend is led by Merlot at 90%, with 10% Cabernet Franc.
Its appeal lies in the way ripe fruit is carried by freshness and a limestone-driven undertone. The estate's clay-limestone terroir gives the wine its more mineral side, while vinification in wooden and concrete vats, 32 days of fermentation and cuvaison, and 15 months on the lees in oak barriques and vats give it structure and depth. New oak accounts for 30%, so the ageing supports the wine without taking attention away from the fruit and (…)Chateau Haut La Pierriere 2021

Chateau Haut La Pierriere 2021

Château Haut La Pierrière 2021 is a red wine from Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, on Bordeaux's right bank next to Saint-Émilion. It comes from Château La Pierrière in Gardegan-et-Tourtirac, in the Castillonnais, and is made as a Bordeaux blend led by merlot, with cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon playing supporting roles.
The interest here lies in its firm, youthful Castillon character rather than in easy softness. The available information points to clay-limestone soils and a wine built around dark fruit, black fruit, liquorice, noticeable tannins, fresh acidity and a light mineral impression on the finish. It is described as still young, with drinking from 2026 advised.

Chateau La Pierriere 2020

Chateau La Pierriere 2020 is a red wine from Castillon, on Bordeaux's eastern Right Bank, close to Saint-Émilion. Its identity is shaped by a Merlot-led blend, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon adding to the structure. The result is a Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux built around ripe fruit, firm presence and rounded tannins.
The estate sits on a limestone plateau in Castillon, a detail the producer links closely to the character of its wines. Part of the ageing takes place in wood, yet the wine remains very much about its Right Bank style: generous fruit, a fairly powerful frame and a polished tannic feel.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to introduce to customers looking for classic character with a (…)Chateau Tourtirac 2020

Chateau Tourtirac 2020

Château Tourtirac 2020 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Dordogne in the Libournais. Its right-bank identity is clear: Merlot is the leading grape in the blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The 2020 vintage is described as a full red wine with structure, open tannins and a velvety texture. It has the depth of ripe dark fruit, with enough freshness and grip to keep the wine lively rather than heavy. The available notes also point to a smoky touch in the finish, adding a little savoury edge.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Castillon we would place near hearty food rather than casual sipping: roasted duck breast, confit de canard, grilled entrecôte, beef stew or (…)Clos Du Milieu 2022

Clos Du Milieu 2022

Clos Du Milieu 2022 is a red wine from Castillon, made under the responsibility of Château Angélus. Its character begins with a very specific origin: a single Merlot-planted plot in Castillon-la-Bataille, only a few kilometres from Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard sits high on the slope, enclosed by hedges, on deep, cool clay-limestone soils. Château Angélus describes these soils as contributing freshness, tension and density, and that idea runs through the wine. Clos Du Milieu is not presented as a broad Bordeaux blend, but as a focused Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux expression within the wider Angélus range.
The 2022 vintage was warm and dry, with Merlot grapes described as aromatic, with thick skins and ripe pips. (…)
