Le Petit Clos 2021 Demi is the 37.5 cl half bottle of Clos Apalta's second wine from Apalta in Chile. Rather than being a simplified version of the Grand Vin, it is presented as another interpretation of the same estate and the same Apalta origin, built from the domaine's grape varieties in different proportions.Carmenère forms the heart of the 2021 blend, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small share of Cabernet Franc. That places the wine in a Bordeaux-inspired Chilean style, while keeping the Apalta identity clearly in view. The fruit comes from the Clos Apalta vineyard, also known as El Condor de Apalta, farmed organically on old, mainly granitic and granodioritic soils with well-drained slopes.
The 2021 growing season was not straightforward. Rain during véraison was followed by cooler, cloudier conditions than usual, while the dry and cold autumn helped maintain grape health. Slow ripening is part of the story of this vintage, bringing freshness alongside concentration. The wine was macerated for several weeks, matured for 19 months in French oak barrels, partly new, and bottled without fining or filtration.
