Cloudburst Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
On request only
Cloudburst Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a Margaret River red with a very individual feel. It comes from the Cloudburst estate of owner and winemaker Will Berliner, set on the inland slope of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, close to the Indian Ocean and bordered by bushland.
The blend is led almost entirely by Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small proportion of Malbec. The vineyard is densely planted, own-rooted, unirrigated and farmed according to ecological and biodynamic principles, though without certification. In the cellar, the work remains small-scale and hands-on: manual sorting, small open fermenters, wild yeast fermentation, partial whole-bunch fermentation and hand pigeage.
Around 20 to 22 months of oak maturation give the wine room to build depth without (…)Cloudburst Chardonnay 2019

Cloudburst Chardonnay 2019
On request only
Cloudburst Chardonnay 2019 is a dry white wine from Margaret River, made within the small Cloudburst production of owner and winemaker Will Berliner. It comes from the Cloudburst vineyard, a very small planting set within a larger natural area near Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and the Indian Ocean. That sense of place matters here: ocean influence, careful hand work and tiny scale are all part of the wine's identity.
The 2019 vintage was shaped by a cooler growing season, low yields and a harvest around two weeks later than usual. Only 2,288 bottles were produced. At Drankenshop Broekmans, the remaining bottles stand out as a scarce Margaret River Chardonnay with both concentration and freshness in its make-up.
The chardonnay grapes were hand sorted, (…)Cloudburst Malbec 2018

Cloudburst Malbec 2018
On request only
Cloudburst Malbec 2018 is a Margaret River red wine with a story built around very small scale and careful vineyard work. It comes from a tiny malbec parcel within the Cloudburst vineyard: 0.10 hectares planted with 1,000 vines. Only 1,200 bottles were produced in 2018, so each bottle represents a very limited piece of that site.
Cloudburst was founded by Will Berliner and Alison Jobson near Wilyabrup. The vineyard is managed by hand, according to biodynamic principles, without irrigation and close to the influence of the Indian Ocean. The vines are on their own roots, and pruning, tying and harvesting are all done manually. That detail matters here, because this is not a large-production wine shaped to a formula; it is a small parcel treated with unusual attention.

Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017
On request only
Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017 is a dry red wine from Clare Valley in South Australia, made entirely from Shiraz grown in The Armagh vineyard. This is not just a regional label; the wine is tied to a specific site north-west of Clare, with fruit from the original 1968 Shiraz plantings.
The 2017 vintage has an important place in the development of The Armagh. It was matured for 18 months in French oak, and from this vintage onward the wine moved fully away from American oak. After cask selection, only part of the harvest makes it into the final bottling, underlining the selective nature of the wine.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Clare Valley Shiraz for people who appreciate origin, structure and ageing potential more than simple power. The (…)Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017 Magnum (1,5l)

Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017 Magnum (1,5l)
On request only
Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017 Magnum is a Clare Valley Shiraz with a very specific origin. It comes from The Armagh Vineyard near Clare, planted by Jim Barry in 1968 and known for low yields. The 1.5 litre magnum is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a larger bottle, giving it extra presence for cellaring or serving at the table.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this wine as more than simply a powerful Australian Shiraz. The 2017 vintage is described as a cooler year for The Armagh, bringing more red fruit, lively acidity and a less massive structure than some richer vintages. It remains concentrated, but there is a finer, more measured side to its character.
For this vintage, the individual blocks of The Armagh Vineyard were vinified (…)Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2018 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2018 Dubbele Magnum (3l)
On request only
Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2018 in double magnum is a bottle with real presence. The 3-litre format is not a separate cuvée, but the 2018 vintage of The Armagh itself: Jim Barry Wines' flagship Shiraz from Clare Valley in South Australia.
The wine comes from the Armagh Vineyard near Clare, where the Shiraz vines trace back to the original 1968 planting. That gives the 2018 vintage an extra layer of meaning, arriving fifty years after those vines were planted. The fruit is fully estate grown, and maturation took place in French oak with a high proportion of new wood, matching the wine's concentrated and firmly structured style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for someone who appreciates serious Australian Shiraz with a clear vineyard (…)Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
On request only
Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is built around a very clear sense of place: Coonawarra in South Australia. While Penfolds is well known for multi-region wines, Bin 169 takes a different route by focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon from one region, sourced from Penfolds' Coonawarra vineyards.
For the 2018 vintage, the wine spent 18 months in French oak hogsheads, with 50% new oak. That ageing supports the structure of the wine while leaving room for the Cabernet profile of red and dark fruit, spice, firm tannins and freshness. The vintage itself was marked by dry conditions from December to mid-April, followed by milder harvest weather, which Penfolds links to good flavour development and fine tannins.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a serious (…)Penfolds Reserve A Chardonnay 2018

Penfolds Reserve A Chardonnay 2018 is a dry white wine from Adelaide Hills in South Australia, made from Chardonnay and shaped in a clearly considered, contemporary style. Penfolds describes Reserve Bin A as a single-region Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, and the 2018 vintage shows that idea through precision, texture and a measured use of French oak.
The grapes were hand-picked in small bins and whole-bunch pressed. Part of the juice went straight from the press into French barriques, with each new and used 225-litre barrel acting as its own fermentation vessel. Spontaneous fermentation, maturation on solids, careful periodic bâtonnage and full natural malolactic fermentation all play a role in the wine's creamy depth and mineral line.

Penfolds RWT Bin 798 2018 is a Barossa Valley Shiraz with a clearly defined role in the Penfolds range. RWT stands for Red Winemaking Trial, the internal project name under which the wine was developed from 1995. First released with the 1997 vintage, it was conceived as a Barossa Shiraz matured exclusively in French oak.
The 2018 growing season in Barossa Valley was warm and dry, providing favourable ripening conditions for Shiraz. Penfolds describes the wine as rich, meaty and concentrated, with strong aromatic intensity and a soft, full texture. Sixteen months in French oak hogsheads, including a substantial proportion of new oak, adds depth while keeping the Barossa fruit firmly at the centre.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we place (…)Penfolds Rwt Bin 798 2022

Penfolds RWT Bin 798 2022 is a Barossa Valley Shiraz with a distinct role in the Penfolds range. RWT stands for Red Winemaking Trial, the internal name of a project that began in the early 1990s and later became a recognised wine in its own right. Since the 2014 vintage, it has carried the Bin 798 number.
Its identity is built around single-region Barossa Shiraz and maturation in French oak. The 2022 vintage spent 14 months in French oak hogsheads, with a significant proportion of new oak. That frame brings structure and spicy depth, while the oak influence is described as present rather than overpowering.
The 2022 season in Barossa brought a moderate summer, no extreme heat above 40 °C and clear day-night temperature differences during harvest. Those (…)Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2019

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2019

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2019 is a South Australian red with a very deliberate sense of style. Within the Penfolds range, St Henri stands apart as a Shiraz that does not rely on new oak for its identity. Instead, the focus is on fruit, structure and the character of a multi-regional blend.
The 2019 vintage brings together Shiraz from McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Wrattonbully and The Peninsulas. It was a warm year, with lower than average yields and fruit noted for good colour, firm tannins and intense flavour. Twelve months in large, seasoned oak casks kept the oak influence restrained, allowing the wine's dark fruit, savoury depth and natural tension to remain at the centre.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of wine we like to present to (…)Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2021

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2021

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2021 shows a distinctive side of Australian Shiraz. Rather than placing new oak at the centre of the wine, St Henri is built around fruit, structure and the character of its South Australian origins, with grapes sourced from Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. It sits within the Penfolds Collection as a deliberately different expression of Shiraz.
The 2021 blend is 97% Shiraz with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 12 months in large, seasoned oak vats. That choice keeps the oak influence restrained and allows the depth of the Shiraz to speak more clearly. The result is a wine with concentration and ageing potential, but without the style being driven by new wood.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, St Henri has a natural place among serious (…)Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2018

Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2018

Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2018 is an Australian white wine built around precision rather than weight. Within the Penfolds range, Yattarna, also referred to as Bin 144, represents Chardonnay selected from cooler regions, with a clear focus on finesse, natural acidity and structure.
The 2018 vintage brings together fruit from Tasmania, Tumbarumba in New South Wales and Adelaide Hills in South Australia, with Tasmania forming the largest share. That multi-regional approach is central to Yattarna: the aim is not to show one single vineyard, but to compose a cool-climate Chardonnay with tension, depth and definition.
The wine was barrel fermented and matured for eight months in French oak barriques, 60% of them new. The oak influence is described as supportive (…)Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2022

Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2022 is one of Penfolds' leading white wines, also known as Yattarna Bin 144 Chardonnay. Yattarna was first released in 1998 from the 1995 vintage, and the Bin 144 reference goes back to the 144 trial wines made before the cuvée was launched.
The 2022 vintage draws on cool Australian Chardonnay regions: Tumbarumba in New South Wales, Tasmania, particularly Coal River Valley, and Adelaide Hills in South Australia. That multi-regional approach is central to the wine. Tumbarumba forms the largest part of the blend, Tasmania adds cool-climate tension, and Adelaide Hills contributes a smaller but meaningful share.
Maturation took place for eight months in French oak barriques, 44% of them new. The oak is part of the wine's (…)Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

The 2018 release draws on fruit from three chosen Wynns vineyards, with vines averaging 29 years of age. The season brought a warm summer, followed by cooler autumn conditions that extended ripening. That background helps explain the wine's repeated themes of depth, freshness and finely shaped structure.
Maturation took place over 15 months in French barriques and hogsheads, 35% of them new. The oak influence is described more in terms of cedar, mocha and chocolate nuances than heavy (…)Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 sits at the top of the Wynns Coonawarra Estate range. It is made in small quantities from selected Cabernet Sauvignon parcels from the estate, with the 2019 release drawn from three terra rossa vineyards in Coonawarra. The average vine age was 36 years, and Wynns notes that John Riddoch uses less than one percent of the estate's best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
Wynns describes 2019 as a classic vintage. Good winter rain was followed by a cool, dry spring, then evenly warm days without heat spikes and cool nights influenced by the Southern Ocean. The result is not an overly weighty Cabernet, but a medium-bodied wine with clarity, freshness and finely detailed tannins.

Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Magnum is a serious Coonawarra Cabernet from South Australia. Within the Wynns range, John Riddoch is positioned as the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée. It was first made in 1982 and is named after John Riddoch, founder of the Coonawarra Fruit Colony and builder of the historic Wynns Gabled Winery.
The 2019 vintage is made entirely from Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, selected from three key terra rossa vineyards with an average vine age of 36 years. Wynns produces John Riddoch in small quantities from the best available Cabernet parcels on the estate; according to the producer, less than one percent of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are used. Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is the flagship cuvée of Wynns Coonawarra Estate, from Coonawarra in South Australia. It is built on selection rather than volume: Wynns states that less than one percent of its finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are used for this wine, and the John Riddoch label is only produced in years when the fruit reaches the required standard.
The 2020 release comes from three selected Wynns terra rossa vineyards, with vines averaging 29 years of age for this vintage. Good winter and spring rainfall replenished the soils, while cold southerly winds during flowering and fruit set reduced yields. The result is presented as a concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with structure, yet not a heavy-bodied style.

Yalumba Octavius 2018 is a Barossa Shiraz from Yalumba's Rare & Fine range, made by the historic family-owned producer based in Angaston and founded in 1849. It is a wine with power, certainly, but the story is more precise than that. The 2018 blend draws on fruit from six Barossa vineyards, with Eden Valley playing a major role alongside Barossa Valley. Yalumba describes Eden Valley as bringing aroma and structure, while Barossa Valley contributes richness, density and concentration.
The name Octavius tells part of the story. It refers to Yalumba's small octave barrels of around 100 litres, made by the estate's own cooperage. For the 2018 vintage, the wine matured for 21 months in French oak, partly new and partly older. Oak is clearly woven into the identity of the (…)Yalumba Octavius 2019

Yalumba Octavius 2019 is a Barossa Shiraz with a strong sense of place. It belongs to Yalumba's Rare & Fine range and is made from old-vine Shiraz drawn from five key Barossa vineyards. The blend brings together 55% Eden Valley and 45% Barossa Valley, with Eden Valley contributing aromatics and structure, and Barossa Valley adding richness, density and concentration.
The age of the vines is central to the identity of this wine. Yalumba gives an average vine age of 104 years, with the oldest Eden Valley parcel planted in 1854. That old-vine background supports the wine's depth and firmness, giving it more than simple Barossa power.
The name The Octavius refers to the small 100-litre octave barrels made in Yalumba's own cooperage. For the 2019 vintage, the (…)
