Product info about Clos Du Lican 2020
Clos du Lican 2020 is a Chilean red wine with a very clear identity: not a blend in the style of some Clos Apalta wines, but a single-vineyard Syrah made entirely from one grape variety. It comes from the Clos du Lican vineyard in the San José sector of Apalta, a separate project from the family behind Clos Apalta created to let this particular site speak on its own.The vineyard lies in the Apalta Valley on granitic and granodioritic soils, with well-drained slopes and the influence of both the coastal hills and the Tinguiririca River. That setting helps explain the style described for the wine: concentrated and ripe, yet with preserved fruit and natural acidity. The 2020 vintage was dry and early, with low disease pressure and a harvest carried out block by block because ripening was uneven.
In the cellar, the wine was treated with real intent: five to six weeks of maceration with manual pigeage, fermentation in French oak barrels and 27 months of ageing in new French oak. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered, reinforcing the sense of a dense, carefully shaped Syrah with a refined side.

With an official 2020 production of 379 nine-litre-equivalent cases, and only the last bottles remaining, its limited nature is part of the experience.
