Clos Apalta 2019 Demi is the half-bottle format of a concentrated red wine from Chile's Apalta Valley. Carménère forms the heart of the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, giving the wine its full, structured and deeply coloured personality.The Clos Apalta vineyard lies near Santa Cruz in the Colchagua Valley, shaped by the surrounding Coastal Cordillera hills and the influence of the Tinguiririca River. The 2019 season brought a warm summer, dry harvest conditions and careful canopy and irrigation work in the vineyard. Lower yields and healthy grapes helped define the density of the vintage.
Winemaking here is deliberately serious: a long maceration, fermentation in French oak, malolactic conversion in new French barriques and 24 months of ageing in French oak, mostly new.
