About Drankenshop Broekmans

Drankenshop Broekmans grew out of a long-standing passion for everything to do with spirits, wines, beers and soft drinks.  By 1989, that passion had grown so strong that setting up our own drinks shop had become inevitable. Since 1989, Broekmans has been offering the finest and highest-quality drinks in Flanders.  

At the helm of Drankenshop Broekmans is Jan Broekmans. Jan has been a connoisseur and specialist in all things drinks-related for many years. In his younger years, he undertook various courses and remains a member of a tasting club to this day.  In 2006, Jan also founded a new Belgian wholesaler under the name The Nectar, which has since become the importer of countless exceptional, high-quality spirits and supplies numerous drinks retailers in Belgium and Luxembourg with a superb range of spirits.  TasTToe is also part of the Broekmans group. Jan remains closely involved in the product selection for all these companies to this day and constantly keeps a close eye on developments to ensure that Broekmans remains synonymous with quality in the future.

Our offline strengths

Our drinks shop has been in business since 1989. The strengths of our online shop are therefore an extension of the values we have held dear for 35 years at our shop in Zolder and are, without a doubt, equally applicable to our physical shop. In addition, our physical shop has a few further advantages:

• Open continuously from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 7 pm (6 pm on Saturdays)

So is it Broekmans, Broeckmans, Broekman or Broeckman?

Every now and then, there’s quite a bit of confusion about exactly what our name is.

Broekmansis the only correct spelling, so without “ck” and with an “s” at the end. The name refers directly to the surname of the family behind B2 Supermarket Broekmansand Drankenshop Broekmans, and its current manager, Jan Broekmans.

In local Zolder parlance, we are also often referred to as “Broekman” by residents of Zolder who have lived near our supermarket and drinks shop for decades.  Further afield, an extra ‘c’ often appears in our name, and we are sometimes referred to as Broeckmans. We have not yet been able to work out exactly where that extra letter comes from.

In short, as far as we’re concerned, you’re free to choose whether you’d rather call us Broekmansor Broeckmans – on their own or in a combination such as Dranken Broekmans or Drankenshop Broekmans!
