Clos Apalta Vinothèque 2012 is a library release of Clos Apalta 2012, brought back after extended cellaring by the Bournet-Lapostolle family. That makes it more than a standard vintage release: it is the same underlying wine, but offered after additional bottle ageing under controlled cellar conditions.The blend is led by Carmenère, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, giving this Chilean red wine a Bordeaux-inspired frame with a clear Apalta identity. The estate refers to organic and biodynamic vineyard management, and for Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon it mentions old ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines planted in 1920.
The winemaking details point to a deliberate, hands-on approach: manual harvesting, full hand-destemming, native yeast fermentation in small French oak vats and 24 months in new French oak barrels. The wine was bottled without fining, cold stabilisation or filtration.
