Cuvee Hoenshof Merlot/Dornfelder

Cuvée Hoenshof Merlot/Dornfelder is a fine example of Belgian red wine finding its own identity. It comes from Wijndomein Hoenshof in Borgloon, in Limburg's Haspengouw region, where the focus is on grape varieties that can ripen well in Belgium's cooler climate while keeping freshness and structure.
Merlot forms an important part of the blend, but the wine gains its particular shape from dornfelder and, according to the producer information, cabernet cortis. Dornfelder is used for softness and fruit, while cabernet cortis serves here as a related alternative to cabernet sauvignon. Rather than copying a warmer-climate red blend, this cuvée gives that idea a Belgian interpretation: ripe fruit, freshness and a rounded frame.
The red grapes undergo (…)Kranzel Sagittarius Caberbet / Merlot 2018

Kranzel Sagittarius Caberbet / Merlot 2018

Kranzel Sagittarius Cabernet / Merlot 2018 is a powerful red wine from South Tyrol, made by Kranzelhof in Tscherms/Cermes on the slopes around the Merano basin. It is a cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with grapes described by the producer as hand-selected from the oldest vines.
Sagittarius is made only in special years, giving this wine a more selective place in the estate's range. The vineyards sit at roughly 292 to 700 metres above sea level, on soils with moraine deposits and granite. For the 2018 vintage, maturation of 24 months in barrique is mentioned, fitting the wine's full and structured style: dark fruit, firm presence and a gastronomic character.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of red we would point to for (…)Collin Bourisset Incontournable Merlot 2024

Collin Bourisset Incontournable Merlot 2024

Collin Bourisset Incontournable Merlot 2024 is a red wine from Pays d'Oc, showing Merlot in a young, soft and fruit-led style. It comes from southern France and forms part of Collin Bourisset's Incontournable range, from a house with roots going back to 1821.
The range is built around a small selection of partner growers from different French regions, with the focus on varietal character, clean fruit and roundness. In this Merlot, that translates into a fresh, approachable red matured in stainless steel, with no emphasis on oak in the available product information.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would point to when someone wants an easy-drinking Merlot with enough body for food. It works naturally with pasta, tomato-based sauces, (…)Tomintoul Merlot Finish Tube Incl.

Tomintoul Merlot Finish shows a fruit-led side of Speyside single malt while keeping to an unpeated style. The whisky is first matured in American bourbon casks, then finished in Merlot wine casks from the Bordeaux region. That finishing period brings a clear red-fruit accent, with the whisky bottled at 40% ABV.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a useful bottle for exploring wine-cask influence in Scotch whisky without moving into peat smoke or heavy wood. It is produced in small batches, which also gives the release a more focused, carefully framed feel.
The Merlot finish is reflected in the tasting direction: summer berries, morello cherry and red fruit sit alongside softer notes of acacia honey, cocoa and baking spices. It is a warm, fruit-forward (…)Glencadam Reserve De Bordeaux Merlot Finish Tube Incl.

Glencadam Reserve De Bordeaux Merlot Finish Tube Incl.

Glencadam Reserve De Bordeaux Merlot Finish shows a wine-influenced side of this Highland single malt. It is first matured in bourbon casks and then finished in Merlot casks from Bordeaux, giving the whisky a fruitier and more spiced direction than a straightforward bourbon-cask style.
The Bordeaux Merlot finish brings the focus towards berries, cooked fruit, cocoa and warming spice. It is the kind of cask influence that adds colour and depth without turning the whisky into something overly heavy.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this sits well among the Scottish single malts for drinkers who enjoy a wine finish with a clear fruit-and-spice signature. Bottled at 46%, it has enough strength to carry that character with confidence.

Nonino Grappa Il Merlot is an Italian grappa with a very clear identity. The name places Merlot at the centre, giving the bottle a focused and straightforward character before you even pour a glass.
At 41% alcohol, it remains firmly in grappa territory. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this with customers who are specifically looking for Nonino, or for a grappa built around a clear Merlot reference.
Its story is concise but well defined: Italy, Nonino, grappa and Merlot.
No detailed tasting notes have been provided for Nonino Grappa Il Merlot. From the available information, it can be presented as an Italian Nonino grappa centred on Merlot, bottled at 41% alcohol.Edradour 2015 11y St. Michael-Eppan 11y Cabernet & Merlot

Expected: 01/11/2026Edradour 2015 11 Year Old St. Michael-Eppan Cabernet & Merlot is a Highland single malt with a clear wine-cask signature. It comes from the collaboration between Edradour and the St. Michael-Eppan winery, with a finish in casks from Alto Adige.
Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2026, this 11-year-old whisky was finished in 1st Fill Cabernet & Merlot Hogsheads. That final maturation stage brings the fruitier side of the whisky forward, supported by gentle wood and spice rather than dominated by them.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as an interesting bottle for anyone who enjoys exploring how a wine finish can shape a single malt in a precise and recognisable way. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and at natural colour, keeping the (…)Merlet Selection St.-Sauvant

Merlet Selection St.-Sauvant
On request only
Merlet Selection St.-Sauvant is a French cognac with a clear, understated identity. The name places the emphasis on the selection itself and on the Merlet house, rather than on elaborate storytelling. Bottled at 45.2% alcohol, it has a firmer presence than a standard-strength spirit, though no specific aroma or flavour notes are provided in the product data.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this cognac stands out through that straightforward combination: French origin, the Merlet name and limited remaining availability. With only the last bottles left, it has become a more occasional find within the range.
Its popularity is easy to understand in that context. This is a cognac for someone looking deliberately for Merlet Selection St.-Sauvant, with a little extra (…)Clos Du Milieu 2022

Clos Du Milieu 2022

Clos Du Milieu 2022 is a red wine from Castillon, made under the responsibility of Château Angélus. Its character begins with a very specific origin: a single Merlot-planted plot in Castillon-la-Bataille, only a few kilometres from Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard sits high on the slope, enclosed by hedges, on deep, cool clay-limestone soils. Château Angélus describes these soils as contributing freshness, tension and density, and that idea runs through the wine. Clos Du Milieu is not presented as a broad Bordeaux blend, but as a focused Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux expression within the wider Angélus range.
The 2022 vintage was warm and dry, with Merlot grapes described as aromatic, with thick skins and ripe pips. (…)Petrolo Galatrona 2021

Petrolo Galatrona 2021

Petrolo Galatrona 2021 is a Tuscan red wine with a very focused identity: one vineyard, one grape variety and one estate handling both production and bottling. It comes from DOC Valdarno di Sopra Vigna Galatrona and is made entirely from Merlot. Petrolo refers to Galatrona as its Merlot Grand Cru, a description that reflects the importance of this vineyard within the estate.
The vineyard sits at around 300 metres above sea level on soils that include clay, loam, galestro, marl/alberese and sandstone. The clay element matters for Merlot in this part of Tuscany, as it helps retain moisture during hot, dry summers. In 2021 that became especially relevant: spring frost and summer drought reduced production by around 30%, while low yields per vine helped the estate achieve full (…)Chateau De Carles 2022

Chateau De Carles 2022

Château de Carles 2022 is the estate wine of Château de Carles in Fronsac, on Bordeaux's Right Bank. For this vintage it is made from 100% Merlot, and it should be understood as the château's own main cuvée rather than the separate Haut-Carles bottling.
Its setting explains much of the wine's personality. The vineyards are planted on clay and clay-limestone soils over molasse du Fronsadais, with Merlot playing the leading role at the estate. Parcels are vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by ageing partly in stainless steel and French oak barrels. The result is a dry red Fronsac with ripe fruit, structure and the measured Bordeaux feel that suits the appellation.

Petrolo Galatrona 2022
In stock
Petrolo Galatrona 2022 is a Tuscan red wine with a very clear sense of place: Merlot from the single Vigna Galatrona vineyard in the DOC Valdarno di Sopra. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as more than a prestigious label; it is a wine defined by one vineyard, produced and bottled entirely on the estate.
Vigna Galatrona lies near Feriale, on the south-eastern edge of the Chianti hills, at around 300 metres above sea level. Petrolo planted the site with low-yielding Bordeaux clones of Merlot, on soils described as medium-textured and rich in clay, with galestro, alberese and sandstone. The estate considers this mix of clay and stone essential for giving Merlot structure and balance, particularly in warm, dry summers.
The 2022 growing season saw regular (…)Petrolo Galatrona 2020

Petrolo Galatrona 2020
In stock
Petrolo Galatrona 2020 is a dry red wine from Tuscany with a very precise identity: it comes from the Galatrona vineyard in Val d'Arno di Sopra and is made entirely from Merlot. Petrolo describes it as the Merlot cuvée of that vineyard, with the official designation DOC Val d'Arno di Sopra Merlot Vigna Galatrona. The first vintage was 1994, so this is a wine with a clearly established place in the estate's range.
The vineyard setting matters here. Galatrona lies near Mercatale Valdarno/Bucine at around 300 metres altitude, facing south-east. Its soils include loam, clay, galestro schist, alberese marl and sandstone. The clay component is especially relevant in warm, dry Tuscan summers, as it helps retain moisture and supports the ripening of Merlot.

La Chenade 2021 is a dry red wine from Lalande-de-Pomerol on Bordeaux's Right Bank. It is part of Vignobles Denis Durantou, the wine estate also associated with Château L'Église-Clinet in Pomerol and Château Les Cruzelles in Lalande-de-Pomerol, with Noémie Durantou involved in the 2021 vintage.
The distinctive point in this vintage is its composition: La Chenade 2021 is made entirely from Merlot. In other years the cuvée often includes Cabernet Franc, but in 2021 that fruit was used for Château Les Cruzelles. As a result, this release gives a particularly clear view of Merlot from the sandy and gravelly soils of Lalande-de-Pomerol.
The winemaking is described as gentle, aimed more at elegance and drinkability than at (…)La Petite Eglise 2021

La Petite Eglise 2021

La Petite Eglise 2021 is the second wine, or parcel selection, of Ch L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol. It is strongly merlot-led, with a blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, drawn from estate parcels and younger merlot vines. Vintage-specific information also mentions 2016 plantings near the church parcel being used in the wine for the first time.
The 2021 vintage in Pomerol was cooler and more demanding than the very ripe years that came before it. That gives this wine much of its appeal: it is less massive in style, with the focus falling on freshness, floral detail, fine tannins and a clear core of fruit. Ageing in French oak barrels, with 60% new oak mentioned for this vintage, adds support without pushing the fruit into the background.

Pavillon Du Glana 2022

Pavillon du Glana 2022 is the second wine of Château du Glana in Saint-Julien, Médoc. It gives a clear impression of the estate's Bordeaux identity: Cabernet-led, structured and rooted in the gravel soils of the château's own vineyards.
The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, so the wine is built around the firmness and dark-fruited character of Cabernet, with Merlot adding a rounder edge. The 2022 vintage at Château du Glana was shaped by a warm, dry summer, small berries and very low yields, bringing notable phenolic concentration.
That concentration was handled carefully in the cellar. The estate worked with gentle extraction at low temperature, followed by 12 months of ageing, with 15% new barriques. The result is a (…)Chateau Feytit Clinet 2021

Chateau Feytit Clinet 2021

Chateau Feytit Clinet 2021 is a red Pomerol and the estate's grand vin. The blend is firmly Merlot-led, with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, sourced from around 6 hectares of vineyard on gravel and gravel over clay.
The 2021 vintage shows a more restrained and structured side of Feytit Clinet rather than a very opulent expression. Available tasting notes point to a medium to medium-full-bodied Pomerol, with lively acidity, present ripe tannins and an aromatic range that moves from dark fruit into violet, herbal, graphite and roasted notes.
Fermentation in concrete vats and 16 months of ageing in oak barrels, 70% of them new, give the wine its frame and a clear oak influence in youth. If opened now, decanting is a sensible approach, especially when serving (…)Pastourelle De Clerc Milon 2016

Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2016 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon from Pauillac in Bordeaux. It comes from the same terroirs as the grand vin, with the 2016 blend made up of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its structure, while the Merlot brings a fuller, more rounded presence.
The 2016 growing season in Pauillac was shaped by contrast: a very wet winter and spring, followed by an exceptionally dry summer and autumn. According to the producer, the dry conditions kept the grapes small and contributed to concentration. Harvest took place from 28 September to 15 October, starting with the Merlot parcels, and each grape variety and plot was vinified separately.
After 12 months in one-year-old barriques, (…)Clos De L'Oratoire 2020

Clos De L'Oratoire 2020 is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from France, grown on an estate of around 13 hectares on the north-eastern slope of Saint-Émilion. The blend is firmly Merlot-led, with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, giving the wine its mix of ripe generosity, aromatic lift and structural poise.
For the 2020 vintage, the vineyard is certified organic under FR-BIO-10. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates between 22 and 25 September, carefully sorted before and after destemming, and handled without crushing. Fermentation took place in wooden vats, followed by 16 months on fine lees in barriques, 40% of them new.

The 2020 vintage brings together ripe merlot fruit with the freshness and tension repeatedly noted in tasting descriptions. The grapes were harvested at the end of September, fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barriques, 30% of them new. The oak is described as present but not dominant, sitting behind the fruit, spice and earthy depth.

Mondot 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion, produced by Château Troplong Mondot as a separate cuvée from the estate. The château presents Mondot as another interpretation of the Troplong Mondot terroir, with a clear focus on limestone-driven parcels.
What makes the 2021 vintage especially noteworthy is its composition: 100% merlot. According to the available vintage information, this was the last Mondot vintage made entirely from merlot before cabernet franc was introduced from 2022 onwards. Maturation in tank and neutral barrels keeps new oak out of the foreground, allowing fruit clarity, freshness and limestone expression to take the lead.

It is not described as a conventional second wine made only from declassified lots; this vintage comes largely from its own set of parcels, giving Mondot a distinct limestone-driven character.
Made from 100% Merlot, the grapes come from limestone-rich sites, including parcels on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. The winemaking is designed to keep the emphasis on fruit purity, freshness and tension: a significant proportion was handled in tank, with the remainder raised in used barrels. There is no reliance on new oak as the main voice of the wine.

It also carries the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé classification, setting the tone for a wine with depth, structure and a firm sense of place.
The 2020 vintage is described as rich, with a vivid, very deep colour that is almost black. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, concrete and wooden vats, followed by around 16 to 20 months of maturation in barrique. The result is a wine where ripe dark fruit, structure and freshness are central, with oak influence present in the background rather than presented as the main feature.

Chateau Clement Pichon 2019

Chateau Clement Pichon 2019 is a red Bordeaux from the Haut-Médoc and carries the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur classification for this vintage. The estate is located in Parempuyre, in the southern part of the Médoc, and belongs to Vignobles Clément Fayat. In the Drankenshop Broekmans selection, it stands out as a classic Médoc with a Merlot-led sense of generosity.
The blend is 73% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. That composition gives the wine its contrast: ripe dark fruit and a rounded core from Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure. It spent 12 months ageing in a mix of new barrels, one-wine barrels and vats, so the oak notes of cedar, toast and spice are present but described as well integrated.
