Flavour notes

The aromatic profile brings together dark and red fruit: black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry and plum. Floral notes of violet, rose and peony add lift, followed by mint, fennel, cedar, dark chocolate, cocoa, black pepper, star anise, graphite, wet earth, smoke and a lightly saline mineral touch.

On the palate it is described as medium to full-bodied, with concentrated fruit, fresh acidity and tannins that are present yet fine-grained and closely knit. The finish is long, savoury and mineral in tone, with enough structure to support further development.

Product info about La Petite Eglise 2022 Magnum (1,5l)

La Petite Eglise 2022 is the second wine of Château L'Eglise-Clinet in Pomerol, presented here in a 1.5-litre magnum. It is a dry red Bordeaux drawn from a small, carefully selected part of the estate, with fruit from plots including those near the church of Pomerol and close to Château La Fleur-Pétrus.

The 2022 blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. That gives it a clear Right Bank identity: ripe, dark-fruited depth from Merlot, lifted by the floral, herbal and spicy detail associated with Cabernet Franc. Harvest began early, with Merlot starting on 31 August and Cabernet Franc in early September, in a warm, dry Bordeaux vintage where the tasting notes still point to freshness and structure.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as much more than a simple second wine. Production for the vintage is reported at around 4,700 bottles, it received strong recognition from several respected wine publications, and the magnum format adds to the sense of occasion. With 14.5% alcohol, ageing in French oak and a firmly Pomerol character, this is a wine that is described as benefiting from some bottle age, with longer cellaring also well within its expected horizon.

The aromatic profile brings together dark and red fruit: black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry and plum. Floral notes of violet, rose and peony add lift, followed by mint, fennel, cedar, dark chocolate, cocoa, black pepper, star anise, graphite, wet earth, smoke and a lightly saline mineral touch.

About CH L'EGLISE CLINET

Château L'Eglise Clinet is a respected wine estate from the Pomerol appellation in Bordeaux, France. The estate is located on the famous right bank area where mainly Merlot and, to a lesser extent, Cabernet Franc play the leading roles in the blends. Château L'Eglise Clinet has a rich history that dates back to the end of the 19th century, when it emerged as a separate entity through the merging of plots from the Mouiex family and other local owners. For decades, the estate has been in the hands of the Durantou family, with Denis Durantou as the passionate winemaker who gained worldwide respect for the consistently high quality. The vineyards of Château L'Eglise Clinet cover only a few hectares, which means that production remains relatively small and the wines can sometimes be difficult to obtain. In the winery, conventional techniques are combined with attention to detail, resulting in a style often described as powerful, complex, and rich in depth, with particularly good ageing potential. The wines of Château L'Eglise Clinet are regularly recognized by international wine critics and rank among the most sought-after labels of Pomerol.
