Le Comte de Malartic Lagraviere 2021 is the white second wine of Château Malartic-Lagravière in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. It is a dry white Bordeaux built around sauvignon blanc, with a 2021 blend of 87% sauvignon blanc and 13% sémillon. That high sauvignon proportion is part of the vintage story, as sémillon was more affected by frost in 2021.The fruit was hand-harvested in successive selections, then slowly pressed under inert gas. Fermentation took place in oak barrels, followed by 12 months on fine lees in French oak, including 30% new oak, with bâtonnage during ageing. Château Malartic-Lagravière is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Lëognan appellation, part of Graves. The château has a history dating back to the eighteenth century, having known several owners before the Bonnie family took over the estate in 1997. The vineyards cover around 53 hectares and are planted with classic Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for red, and Sauvignon Blanc, Sëmillon with a small proportion of Muscadelle for white.
