Château Vray Croix de Gay 2021 Magnum is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux, presented in a 1.5-litre bottle. Rather than showing Pomerol in a heavy or strongly extracted style, this vintage is described through freshness, precision and floral detail. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.The estate is small, covering 3.67 hectares on the Pomerol plateau, divided into parcels and micro-parcels. The vines average around 45 years of age and grow on clay and gravel soils. Certified organic since 2018, Château Vray Croix de Gay matured the 2021 vintage in barriques, using 35% new oak alongside barrels of one and two previous wines.
For Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum is the kind of Pomerol that tells a subtler story: one of lift, structure and drinkability rather than sheer weight. The 2021 growing season in Bordeaux was demanding, but the cooler, drier conditions later on helped preserve freshness and balance in the grapes.
