Château Trottevieille is a winery from the Bordeaux region of France and is located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation. This producer belongs to the Premier Grand Cru Classé B class according to the famous classification of Saint-Émilion. Château Trottevieille has a relatively small vineyard area, mainly planted with Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is characterized by a long history dating back to the 19th century, with some of the oldest vines in Saint-Émilion, including old pre-phylloxera vines. The wines of Château Trottevieille are known for their classic Bordeaux style; they combine power with elegance and often develop beautifully after several years of bottle aging. Typical are aromas of dark fruit, spices, and a mineral note that is characteristic of the terroir of Saint-Émilion. The name Trottevieille refers, according to local tradition, to an old lady who used to walk regularly past the chateau, although the exact story is difficult to verify. Today, the estate is managed by the Castéja family, who are also involved in other renowned wine estates in Bordeaux.
