Clos De L'Oratoire 2019

Clos de l'Oratoire 2019 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion, from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and classified as Grand Cru Classé. The 2019 vintage is built around 81% Merlot with 19% Cabernet Franc, giving the wine a generous Merlot core while retaining the aromatic lift, structure and length associated here with Cabernet Franc.
The estate sits on the north-eastern slope of Saint-Emilion, with clay-limestone, molasse de Fronsac and clay-sand soils across its vineyards. For this vintage, the wine spent 30 days in cuvaison with extraction by pneumatic pigeage, followed by 16 months on fine lees in barriques, 50% of them new oak. It was bottled at the château in May 2021 without fining.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind (…)Aromes De Pavie 2022

Arômes de Pavie 2022 is the second wine of Château Pavie, from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. It carries the identity of a well-known Right Bank Bordeaux estate, while being presented in a more approachable form than the grand vin.
For the 2022 vintage, this is a separately identified cuvée from dedicated vineyard land on the limestone plateau south-east of Saint-Émilion. The blend is an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, sourced from vines averaging 53 years of age. Its clay-limestone soils over fossil-rich limestone help explain why the wine is described not only through ripe fruit and concentration, but also through freshness and a chalky mineral line.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled wooden vats, with (…)Aromes De Pavie 2022 Magnum (1,5l)

Aromes de Pavie 2022 Magnum is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Château Pavie, offered here in the 1.5 litre format. The 2022 vintage in Bordeaux was shaped by heat, drought and water stress, yet the information available for Pavie points to resilient vines and small, concentrated berries with balance rather than simple ripeness.
The blend is precise and distinctive: 50% merlot and 50% cabernet franc. Fruit comes from 13.5 hectares of production, with vines averaging 44 years of age. Hand harvesting and selection, vinification in temperature-controlled wooden vats, malolactic fermentation in barriques and 18 months of ageing, with 50% new oak, give the wine its serious structure.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum sits naturally among (…)Carillon D'Angelus 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Carillon D'Angelus 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Carillon d'Angelus 2021 is the second wine of Château Angelus in Saint-Emilion, yet it has a clear identity of its own. First released with the 1987 vintage, Carillon is drawn from selected Saint-Emilion parcels, and the 2021 blend is built around 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
The 2021 vintage is marked more by tension, precision and aromatic freshness than by sheer weight. It was a demanding year at the estate, with strict selection in the vineyard and lower volumes as a consequence. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out for customers looking for a refined Saint-Emilion with structure, freshness and a distinct vintage expression.
Maturation lasted 16 months in fine-grained French oak barriques, 60% new and 40% one-year-old. The oak is (…)Carillon D'Angelus 2022

Carillon d'Angelus 2022 is a red Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from Ch Angelus, made as a cuvée with its own identity within the estate. Introduced with the 1987 vintage, Carillon is based on dedicated Saint-Emilion vineyard selections rather than being presented simply as a leftover selection from the grand vin.
The 2022 season was warm and dry, yet the vintage information repeatedly points to freshness, energy and tension in the finished wine. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, giving Merlot the leading role while Cabernet Franc brings spicy, floral and fresh accents.
In the cellar, the approach was precise: stainless steel inverted truncated vats, gravity handling, extraction without pumping, maceration before and after fermentation, followed (…)Chapelle D'Ausone 2020

Chapelle d'Ausone 2020 is the second wine of Château Ausone in Saint-Émilion, made on the same estate as the Grand Vin. It is drawn from selections of younger vines and parcels not included in the first wine, while being produced under comparable conditions. That makes it a serious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in its own right, carrying the Ausone signature through a slightly different expression.
The 2020 blend is led by Cabernet Franc, at 60%, with 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. That Cabernet Franc presence is central to the wine's aromatic, floral and savoury side. Its origin on the estate's clay-limestone slopes and asteria limestone also supports the chalky, mineral impression noted across tasting descriptions.

Chapelle d'Ausone 2022 is the second wine of Château Ausone, although that description hardly makes it feel secondary. This red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru comes from the same limestone plateau and clay-limestone slopes that define the estate, with this cuvée centred on younger vines and selected parts of the terroir.
Cabernet franc leads the 2022 blend, supported by merlot and a small proportion of cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted before parcel-by-parcel vinification with native yeasts in small wooden foudres. The wine then spent 20 months in new barriques in the estate's underground limestone quarries. That setting is more than a romantic detail; it connects naturally with the chalky, mineral tension often mentioned (…)Chateau Angelus 2016

Chateau Angelus 2016

Chateau Angelus 2016 is the grand vin of Château Angelus in Saint-Emilion, a dry red Bordeaux blend made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. For this vintage, the estate carried the Premier Grand Cru Classé A classification, placing the wine firmly among the most notable names of Saint-Emilion.
The fruit comes from the estate's vineyards on the southern slope and at the foot of the Saint-Emilion hillside, set in a natural amphitheatre close to the town. Merlot is mainly planted on the more clay-rich sections, while Cabernet Franc grows on sandy clay-limestone soils lower down the slope. That helps explain the shape of the wine: depth and density from Merlot, with the Cabernet Franc bringing tension, floral detail, spice and aromatic precision.

The blend is firmly rooted in the Right Bank style: 85% merlot, 13% cabernet franc and 2% cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were hand-harvested in September 2020 after a vintage marked by a mild winter, a wet spring, a hot dry summer and August rains that helped complete ripening.
