Chateau Pedesclaux 2018 is a red Bordeaux from Pauillac on the Left Bank, made as the grand vin of a 5ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. That gives the wine a recognisably Médoc shape: dark-fruited, structured and serious, with the depth one expects from Pauillac.The 2018 vintage is an important part of the story. A wet winter and spring were followed by a dry, sunny and warm summer. According to the château, the result was small berries with concentrated aromas, while the contrast between day and night helped preserve freshness. The grapes were hand-picked selectively and carefully sorted. Vinification took place without pumps, with gentle extraction, followed by 16 months in barriques, 60% of them new.

Chateau Pedesclaux is a wine estate in the French Bordeaux region, located in the renowned Pauillac appellation, north of the city of Bordeaux. The chateau was founded in 1810 and belongs to the so-called Cinquièmes Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 classification, which means it is officially recognized as one of the fifth-group top wines from the region. The vineyards are situated on gravel-rich soils that are typical for Pauillac and favorably contribute to the quality of the grapes, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot. Chateau Pedesclaux was known for many years as a modest estate, but has undergone a significant quality boost due to modernization, among other things since the takeover by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009. The winery combines traditional techniques with modern vinification and in recent years has devoted much attention to sustainable viticulture. The wines of Pedesclaux are generally distinguished by their elegant structure and balanced expression of fruit, power and freshness, which makes them representative of the character of Pauillac.
