Fleur De Pedesclaux 2016 is the second wine of Château Pedesclaux in Pauillac, a property classified as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. It is not the château's grand vin, but it clearly belongs to the same Bordeaux setting: Pauillac, Garonne gravel over limestone, careful vineyard work and a vintage where selection mattered.The blend gives this wine its particular angle. With 67% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon and 3% petit verdot, the 2016 Fleur De Pedesclaux carries a marked merlot influence in an appellation often associated with cabernet sauvignon. That helps explain the château's own description of the wine as fresher, lighter in feel and more supple than the grand vin, with a rounder, silkier texture.
Harvesting was carried out by hand from 29 September to 18 October, with selective picking and sorting first by bunch and then by berry. In the cellar, vinification was handled by gravity, without pumps. These details matter because they point to a wine made with precision rather than force.

About CH PEDESCLAUX
Chateau Pedesclaux is a wine estate in the French Bordeaux region, located in the renowned Pauillac appellation, north of the city of Bordeaux. The chateau was founded in 1810 and belongs to the so-called Cinquièmes Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 classification, which means it is officially recognized as one of the fifth-group top wines from the region. The vineyards are situated on gravel-rich soils that are typical for Pauillac and favorably contribute to the quality of the grapes, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot. Chateau Pedesclaux was known for many years as a modest estate, but has undergone a significant quality boost due to modernization, among other things since the takeover by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009. The winery combines traditional techniques with modern vinification and in recent years has devoted much attention to sustainable viticulture. The wines of Pedesclaux are generally distinguished by their elegant structure and balanced expression of fruit, power and freshness, which makes them representative of the character of Pauillac.
