Flavour notes
The aromatic profile is centred on dark fruit: cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry and plum. Around that core come graphite, pencil shavings, mint, liquorice, tobacco and a floral hint of violet, while the oak shows through cedar, spice, espresso, cocoa and light toast. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, with a concentrated black-fruit centre and ripe but firm tannins. Freshness gives the wine definition and lift. The finish is long, with spicy, earthy and mineral accents.

Product info about Chateau Saint Pierre 2020
Château Saint-Pierre 2020 is a red wine from Saint-Julien in the Médoc, on Bordeaux's Left Bank. It is the grand vin of Château Saint-Pierre, a 4ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, and the 2020 blend is firmly led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot and cabernet franc.Part of its appeal lies in the scale of the estate. Château Saint-Pierre is described as the smallest classified cru classé estate in Saint-Julien, with vineyards on gravel soils over clay and sand. The 2020 growing season began early, moved through a wet spring and then a warm, dry summer, with harvesting and vinification approached parcel by parcel.
The wine underwent 18 to 23 days of maceration and matured for around 14 months in French oak barriques, about half of them new. That ageing adds depth and polish, but the centre of the wine remains very much Saint-Julien and cabernet in spirit: dark fruit, graphite-like nuance, spice, firm tannins and freshness.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a serious Left Bank Bordeaux with the structure to develop further in bottle. With only the last bottles available, it is a particularly worthwhile choice for those looking for a concentrated, age-worthy Saint-Julien from the 2020 vintage.
