Product info about Clos Fourtet 2019
Clos Fourtet 2019 is the grand vin of Clos Fourtet, from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. The estate is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé and sits on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, a setting that is clearly reflected in the wine's dense, wrapped tannins and its chalky, fresh length.The 2019 blend is led by merlot, with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc adding structure and aromatic detail. The grapes were harvested by hand between late September and early October, then fermented as whole, uncrushed berries in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with manual pigeage. Maturation took place for 14 to 18 months in the estate's underground limestone cellars, using new oak, second-fill barrels and a small proportion of amphora.
For Clos Fourtet, 2019 brought warmth, small berries, useful rain before harvest and marked day-night temperature differences in September. The result is a wine described by the estate in terms of aromatic freshness, balance, length and a firm yet enveloping tannic frame.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Saint-Émilion we like to present with a little context: a serious Bordeaux with depth, recognised ageing potential and a strong sense of place. With only the last bottles remaining, its limited availability now reflects the relatively modest production of around 50,000 bottles for the vintage.

Clos Fourtet is a well-known name within the Bordeaux wine world and is located just outside the town of Saint-Émilion, on the famous limestone plateau that makes this region so unique.
