Chateau Malartic Lagraviere Blanc 2019 is the dry white grand vin from the estate in Léognan, within Bordeaux's Pessac-Léognan appellation. As a Grand Cru Classé de Graves, the château is classified for both red and white wine, and this 2019 white clearly belongs to the more serious side of white Bordeaux: Sauvignon Blanc led, supported by Sémillon, with freshness, structure and depth all playing their part.The grapes were hand-picked in successive selections. In the cellar, the wine was slowly pressed under protection from oxidation, fermented in oak barrels and matured for 14 months on the lees with bâtonnage in French oak, 55% of it new. That detail matters in the glass: the wine has aromatic drive, but also a creamy, almost velvety dimension that gives it presence without taking away its tension.
The producer describes 2019 as a vintage of freshness, balance and fruit expression, with the coolness of August helping the aromatic profile of the white wines. Château Malartic-Lagravière is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Lëognan appellation, part of Graves. The château has a history dating back to the eighteenth century, having known several owners before the Bonnie family took over the estate in 1997.
