Chateau Pedesclaux 2016 is the grand vin of the estate in Pauillac, Bordeaux. As a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it carries the weight of a recognised Pauillac name, but this vintage also has a more specific point of interest: 2016 is described as the first vintage in the history of Chateau Pedesclaux to bring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc together in the grand vin blend.The wine comes from Garonne gravel over a limestone subsoil, with harvesting and selection carried out in a notably precise way. Grapes were picked by hand in crates, sorted by bunch and berry, and vinified by gravity without pumping. Maturation followed for 18 months in French oak barrels, giving the wine a measured framework around its Pauillac structure.
Within the Bordeaux selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is a bottle that stands out through origin, vintage and detail rather than volume. The 2016 received strong recognition from several wine publications and is described as structured, fresh, long and suitable for further bottle ageing. Chateau Pedesclaux is a wine estate in the French Bordeaux region, located in the renowned Pauillac appellation, north of the city of Bordeaux. The chateau was founded in 1810 and belongs to the so-called Cinquièmes Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 classification, which means it is officially recognized as one of the fifth-group top wines from the region. The vineyards are situated on gravel-rich soils that are typical for Pauillac and favorably contribute to the quality of the grapes, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot. Chateau Pedesclaux was known for many years as a modest estate, but has undergone a significant quality boost due to modernization, among other things since the takeover by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009. The winery combines traditional techniques with modern vinification and in recent years has devoted much attention to sustainable viticulture. The wines of Pedesclaux are generally distinguished by their elegant structure and balanced expression of fruit, power and freshness, which makes them representative of the character of Pauillac.
