The 3-litre format is not a separate cuvée, but the 2018 vintage of The Armagh itself: Jim Barry Wines' flagship Shiraz from Clare Valley in South Australia.The wine comes from the Armagh Vineyard near Clare, where the Shiraz vines trace back to the original 1968 planting. That gives the 2018 vintage an extra layer of meaning, arriving fifty years after those vines were planted. The fruit is fully estate grown, and maturation took place in French oak with a high proportion of new wood, matching the wine's concentrated and firmly structured style.

The winery was founded in 1959 by Jim Barry, one of the pioneers who contributed to the development of this region as a leading wine area within Australia. Since its founding, the company has remained family-owned and is now run by subsequent generations of the Barry family. Jim Barry Wines has a diverse portfolio in which Riesling and Shiraz take center stage, grape varieties that thrive in the cool climate and limestone-rich soils of Clare Valley. In addition to these specialties, other varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and some innovative blends are also produced.
