Vieux Chateau Certan 2009
On request only
Vieux Chateau Certan 2009 is the grand vin of this Pomerol estate on Bordeaux's Right Bank. The château describes 2009 as a warm, concentrated and balanced vintage, without becoming heavy or forceful. That gives this wine its particular interest: ripe vintage character, but with freshness and shape still clearly present.
The final blend is 88% merlot, with 6% cabernet franc and 6% cabernet sauvignon. The merlot gives density, richness and supple volume, while the small cabernet elements bring length, savoury lift, liveliness and freshness. That cabernet signature has a real place at Vieux Chateau Certan, whose roughly 14-hectare vineyard is divided into 23 separately managed parcels across clay, clay-gravel and very gravelly soils.

Vieux Chateau Certan 2017
On request only
Vieux Chateau Certan 2017 is the Grand Vin of this Pomerol estate, built around Merlot with Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2017 blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting the estate's mix of clay, clay-gravel and gravel-rich parcels on the Pomerol plateau.
The vintage has a clear identity. An early growing season, rapid flowering in warm May weather and favourable September conditions allowed the varieties to be harvested separately at optimum ripeness. The estate describes 2017 in terms of colour, fruit and freshness, making this a more classical and restrained expression rather than an especially heavy one. Ageing with 70% new oak adds structure while keeping the wine's fresh line in focus.

Vieux Chateau Certan 2018
On request only
Vieux Château Certan 2018 is the Grand Vin of this Pomerol estate on Bordeaux's Right Bank. It comes from a single contiguous vineyard block on the Pomerol plateau, and the 2018 blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon is not part of the final blend for this vintage, so the wine's identity is built around Merlot's depth and Cabernet Franc's texture, freshness and length.
The growing season was shaped by a mild, very wet winter-to-spring period, followed by a warm, dry summer after successful flowering. The water reserves built up earlier in the year helped the older vines cope with the later drought. In the glass, that background translates into a Pomerol described as deeply coloured, concentrated and balanced, with ripe fine tannins and notable (…)Vieux Chateau Certan 2020

Vieux Chateau Certan 2020
On request only
Vieux Château Certan 2020 is the estate's grand vin from Pomerol, and this vintage has a particularly clear identity in the blend: 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, with no Cabernet Sauvignon in the final wine. The Merlot brings density, ripe fruit and volume, while the Cabernet Franc adds floral lift, precision, length and tension.
The growing season was shaped by contrast: a very wet winter followed by a long, dry and often warm summer. Yields were low, and the estate points to its old vines, together with the clay and gravel soils of the Pomerol plateau, as key elements behind the wine's concentration and balance. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled wooden vats, followed by around 18 months in French oak barriques.

Vieux Chateau Certan 2021 Demi (37,5cl)
On request only
Vieux Château Certan 2021 Demi is the estate's grand vin from Pomerol, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. That smaller format makes sense when you want to open a serious Bordeaux without committing to a full bottle. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of wine where the appeal lies in the meeting of origin, vintage and a particularly practical presentation.
The 2021 blend is 77% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 3% cabernet sauvignon. Merlot brings roundness and suppleness, while cabernet franc plays a significant role in the wine's aromatic intensity, length and refinement. The small proportion of cabernet sauvignon adds a floral accent and extra structure.
The vineyard is located on the Pomerol plateau and is divided into 23 parcels. The estate (…)
