Château Alcée 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, made by Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. The blend is led by Merlot with a smaller share of Cabernet Franc, drawn from clay-limestone vineyards around Monbadon, Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe and Saint-Genès-de-Castillon.A notable point for this vintage is the inclusion of the best parcels from Bois Perdu, a lieu-dit on red clay that became part of Alcée from 2021 onwards. It reinforces the impression of a wine built around freshness, structure and mineral tension rather than sheer weight or overt oak.
The grapes are vinified as whole berries in concrete vats, with pigeage and remontage during fermentation and maceration. Ageing takes place for 12 to 16 months in 225- and 500-litre barrels, half of them renewed each year. The oak is part of the frame, not the main subject.
