Product info about Chateau Fayat 2020
Chateau Fayat 2020 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux, built mainly on merlot with a smaller share of cabernet franc. It has the dark-fruited depth associated with this origin, while keeping the freshness and structure that make the wine feel composed rather than simply powerful.Its fruit comes from 31 parcels at Château Fayat, across soils described as a mosaic of deep gravel, brown sandy soils, sandy loam over clay and old sands over clay-based subsoils. The estate itself was created in 2009 by bringing together three Pomerol properties, and a detailed soil study in 2016 helped refine the way those parcels are managed.
After fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine matured for 12 months. Most of that ageing took place in barriques, split between new oak and one-year-old barrels, while a smaller part was raised in other vessels including vats, amphorae, a plant-based polymer egg and a wine globe. In the glass, that translates less as technique and more as a carefully shaped Pomerol with dark fruit, spice, texture and polish.
