Domaine Charlopin Tissier Côte de Nuits Villages Vieilles Vignes 2020 in magnum is a red Burgundy with a very clear sense of place. It comes from the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation and is made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on old vines in a small 0.47-hectare vineyard. In this 1.5-litre format, the wine has a natural presence at the table while remaining firmly in the refined Côte de Nuits register.The domaine was founded in 2013 by Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier in Morey-Saint-Denis. The vineyards are farmed organically, without official organic certification. For this cuvée, the grapes were fully destemmed, followed by cold maceration and fermentation with wild yeasts. The wine then matured for 16 months in French oak barrels, 30% of them new, before being bottled without filtration.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Burgundy we like to present when someone is looking for Pinot Noir with origin, detail and a small-scale domaine approach. The fact that these are the last bottles adds to its appeal, particularly in magnum, where availability is naturally more limited.
Serve at 16 to 18 °C. It can be opened now, preferably with a short period of aeration or around 30 minutes in a decanter, and pairs well with duck breast, salmon or mushroom-based dishes.

Domaine Charlopin Tissier comes from Burgundy, one of France's most highly regarded wine regions. This relatively young estate was founded in 2013 and is run by brothers Yann and Justine Charlopin, who come from a family with deep-rooted wine traditions. Although the estate does not yet belong to the absolute greats of Burgundy, it has managed to attract attention in a short period of time with its approach to winemaking: respect for the terroir, minimal intervention in the cellar, and a strong focus on the expression of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Charlopin Tissier owns vineyards around, among others, Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, resulting in a range of typical Burgundy wines that vary from fresh, mineral-driven white wines to elegant and refined red wines. The working method is largely traditional, with manual harvesting and careful selection being standard practice. Despite its short history, Domaine Charlopin Tissier has become a name that is followed with curiosity by enthusiasts of modern Burgundy with a classic approach.
