Chateau Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes Grand Vin Blanc Sec 2020 is a dry white Bordeaux with a particularly interesting origin. It comes from Suduiraut's Premier Cru Classé terroir in Sauternes, yet it is made as a dry white wine rather than in the sweet style for which the estate is historically known.The 2020 blend brings together 58% sémillon and 42% sauvignon blanc from selected old-vine parcels, with an average vine age of around 45 years. That old-vine selection gives the wine its focus: a dry Bordeaux blanc shaped by the estate's own terroir rather than a simple aromatic white.
The growing season also left its mark. A wet, early start was followed by warm, dry conditions, while cooler nights towards the end of ripening helped preserve aromatic freshness. Maturation lasted 9 months in French oak barriques, mostly one-wine barrels with only a small proportion of new oak, keeping the wood influence supportive.
