Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2022 comes from Greve in Chianti, in Tuscany's Chianti Classico DOCG area. It is a dry red wine made from Sangiovese grown on the estate vineyards of Tenuta di Nozzole, a historic property associated with the Folonari family since 1971.The producer describes it as a modern expression of pure Sangiovese. The vineyards sit at roughly 280 to 380 metres above sea level, on loam and clay soils, surrounded by the Mediterranean vegetation of the Chianti hills. The 2022 vintage began cold and dry, moved through warm summer months, and benefited from rain and cooler conditions around mid-August that supported ripening.
In the cellar, the wine was fermented in stainless steel, macerated on the skins for around four weeks, then matured for 20 months in a combination of large oak casks, barriques and steel, followed by bottle ageing. That gives the wine a clear Sangiovese identity, supported by structure and subtle wood-related depth.
