Château Gloria 2019 Demi is the grand vin of Château Gloria in a practical 37.5 cl half-bottle. It is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien in the Médoc, made from cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The 2019 vintage presents a left-bank style built around ripe dark fruit, firm structure and well-measured oak influence.Château Gloria has an interesting position in Saint-Julien. It is not part of the official 1855 classification, yet the estate was built up parcel by parcel within the appellation, with vineyards spread across several areas of Saint-Julien. That gives the wine a story of its own: rooted in respected terroir, but not defined by the historic ranking system.
The grapes for the 2019 vintage were hand-harvested between 23 September and 4 October. Traditional vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats was followed by 14 months of barrel ageing, including a proportion of new oak. That ageing supports the wine's notes of cedar, tobacco, cocoa and gentle spice alongside its dark-fruited core, without pushing the oak to the foreground.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this half-bottle is a fine way to approach a serious Saint-Julien in a smaller format. The 2019 vintage has also been well recognised by international critics, adding further confidence to the release. Château Gloria is a winery from the renowned Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the appellation of Saint-Julien in the Médoc. This estate is relatively young compared to many other established names in the region, as it was founded in the 1940s by Henri Martin, a well-known figure in the world of Bordeaux wines. Château Gloria has vineyards scattered throughout Saint-Julien, and the selection of plots has been carefully built up over the years from parts of several well-known cru-classé estates. Although Château Gloria does not have a classification under the famous 1855 classification system, the wine is appreciated for its characteristic Saint-Julien style with a balanced combination of power, elegance, and complexity.
