The aroma combines red and dark fruit, with blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry and plum, followed by floral hints, liquorice, tobacco, cedar and a mineral note recalling graphite and iron.On the palate it is dry and concentrated, with ripe yet clearly defined tannins. The fruit remains dark and generous, supported by earthy, savoury and subtle oak or vanilla accents. Its texture is described as silky to fleshy, with enough freshness to keep the wine lively.
The finish brings back fruit, liquorice and savoury tones, at times with a slightly saline, mouth-watering impression.

La Dame de Montrose 2019 is the second wine of Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe, offered here in the 37.5 cl half-bottle format. The word demi refers to the bottle size, not to a separate cuvée. It comes from the same vineyard as the Grand Vin and remains closely tied to the estate's Médoc identity.The 2019 vintage stands out for its blend: 48% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot, with cabernet franc and petit verdot completing the composition. For La Dame de Montrose, that gives cabernet sauvignon a more prominent role than usual. The estate followed the vintage closely, with harvesting from 19 September to 8 October and separate vinification of different lots before the final selection and blend.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we like this wine because it sits in a very appealing place: recognisably Saint-Estèphe, with structure and depth, yet generally more approachable than the Grand Vin. The 2019 vintage still brings plenty of concentration and tannic presence, so it remains a serious Bordeaux rather than a simple second label.

About CH MONTROSE
Château Montrose is a respected winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe, which is part of the famous Médoc area on the left bank of the Gironde. The estate was established in the early 19th century and gradually grew to become one of the important names in the region. Château Montrose has held the classification of Deuxième Cru Classé since 1855, meaning Second Grand Cru Classe, which indicates considerable historical reputation and quality status in the history of Bordeaux wine. The vineyard covers approximately 95 hectares and is planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Its location close to the river offers a favorable microclimate for grape ripening. Montrose is known for its rather classic, robust style of red wine with great aging potential, with wines typically powerful, rich, and structured, often with expressive aromas of dark fruit and earthy notes.
