Tenuta La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is a dry red wine from Tuscany, produced at Tenuta La Fuga by Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute. It comes from Montalcino, within the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, and carries the composed, structured style one expects from a serious Sangiovese-based wine from this area.The grapes come from the estate's own vineyards southwest of Montalcino, on the historic Camigliano side, at around 350 metres above sea level. The producer points to the medium clay soils with abundant stony material and the south-western exposure towards the Tyrrhenian Sea as elements that help shape the phenolic structure of the Sangiovese.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with a skin maceration of about four weeks, followed by long maturation in large Slavonian oak casks. Rather than leaning on overt oak impact, this Brunello is built around time, fruit concentration and tannic definition. The 2019 vintage has also been well recognised, including 95 points from Wine Enthusiast and 94 points from James Suckling.
