Kranzel Blauburgunder Libra 2018 is a red wine from South Tyrol, made by Kranzelhof in Tscherms/Cermes. Blauburgunder is the German-language name for Pinot Noir, or Pinot Nero, and in Libra the grape is shaped by a very specific setting: vineyards between 292 and 700 metres above sea level, with moraine deposits and granite in the soils.
For the Libra cuvée, the producer refers to grapes from old vines of around 45 years, harvested by hand in several passes. Part of the crop is fermented as whole bunches, while the rest is destemmed. The 2018 vintage is listed with 24 months of ageing in barrique, a dry style and 13.5% alcohol.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like for drinkers who want to approach Pinot Noir from a less familiar (…)Kranzel Dorado 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Kranzel Dorado 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Kranzel Dorado 2021 Demi is a sweet white dessert wine from South Tyrol in northern Italy, bottled in a practical 37.5 cl half bottle. It is made from Weissburgunder, also known as Pinot Bianco or Pinot Blanc, and carries the Mitterberg IGT designation. The style is described as passito or TBA in character, with grapes left to ripen on the vine until deep into winter and influenced by botrytis.
There is more behind this wine than simple sweetness. The grapes undergo skin contact before gentle pressing, after which fermentation continues in barrique. A long period on the fine lees in a cool cellar adds concentration and structure to the naturally rich fruit expression.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is exactly the kind of half bottle we like to point out when (…)Kranzel Helios Weisburgunder 2017

Kranzel Helios Weisburgunder 2017

Kranzel Helios Weisburgunder 2017 is a white wine from South Tyrol in Italy, made from Weissburgunder, also known as Pinot Bianco or Pinot Blanc. Within Kranzelhof, Helios is a wine from the estate's oldest vines, grown around Tscherms/Cermes near Merano.
The character of the wine is shaped by careful selection and a rather thoughtful approach in the cellar. The grapes are harvested up to three times, allowing different moments of ripeness to be selected. Part of the fruit undergoes cold maceration, around 20% is fermented on the skins, and the wine is aged on the lees before being bottled unfiltered. For the 2017 vintage, ageing partly in barrique and large wooden cask is also mentioned.
That places Helios in a more structured and gastronomic style than a (…)Kranzel Sagittarius Caberbet / Merlot 2018

Kranzel Sagittarius Caberbet / Merlot 2018

Kranzel Sagittarius Cabernet / Merlot 2018 is a powerful red wine from South Tyrol, made by Kranzelhof in Tscherms/Cermes on the slopes around the Merano basin. It is a cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with grapes described by the producer as hand-selected from the oldest vines.
Sagittarius is made only in special years, giving this wine a more selective place in the estate's range. The vineyards sit at roughly 292 to 700 metres above sea level, on soils with moraine deposits and granite. For the 2018 vintage, maturation of 24 months in barrique is mentioned, fitting the wine's full and structured style: dark fruit, firm presence and a gastronomic character.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of red we would point to for (…)Kranzelhof Aurora Weissburgunder 2019

Kranzelhof Aurora Weissburgunder 2019
In stock
Kranzelhof Aurora Weissburgunder 2019 is a white wine from South Tyrol, produced by Weingut Kranzelhof in Tscherms/Cermes near Merano. Although the name highlights Weissburgunder, Aurora is described by the producer as a white cuvée that also includes Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. That gives the wine a broader, more layered identity than a straightforward single-varietal white.
For Aurora, Kranzelhof refers to vineyards at roughly 292 to 700 metres above sea level, with moraine and granite soils. The producer describes a shared harvest of the grape varieties, a short cold skin maceration, spontaneous fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and ageing on fine lees in used barriques. Those details help explain the wine's combination of elegance, depth (…)Kranzelhof Baslan 2019

Kranzelhof Baslan 2019
Not available for shipping
Kranzelhof Baslan 2019 is a red wine from South Tyrol, from the area around Cermes and Merano. It is made from Vernatsch, known in Italian as Schiava, a traditional local grape variety that naturally points towards red fruit, freshness and a slimmer build rather than heavy concentration.
What gives this Baslan its extra dimension is the way Kranzelhof handles that lighter style. The grapes come from south-facing slopes in the Merano basin, from vineyards at altitude on soils with moraine deposits and granite. Reduced yields, several manual harvest passes and a fermentation that includes part of the stems all add more grip and detail. Around seven months on the fine lees in used wood supports texture and length rather than obvious oak flavour.
At Drankenshop (…)Kranzelhof Meraner Vernatsch 2020

Kranzelhof Meraner Vernatsch 2020

Kranzelhof Meraner Vernatsch 2020 is a red wine from Alto Adige in northern Italy, rooted in the Meran area and in the Vernatsch grape, also known in Italian as Schiava. It belongs to the Meraner Vernatsch style: a regional red wine where origin and grape identity matter more than sheer weight.
Kranzelhof is based in Tscherms/Cermes near Meran, on the sunny slopes of South Tyrol. The available information places the estate within the Meran basin and points to a small-scale winegrowing setting. For this 2020 release, the story is refreshingly clear: Meranese DOC origin, Vernatsch/Schiava, red wine, and a moderate 12.5% alcohol.
The vintage adds useful context. Alto Adige 2020 was described as having generally lower sugar levels than some recent years, with (…)Kranzelhof Sauvignon Blanc Aries 2019

Kranzelhof Sauvignon Blanc Aries 2019
Not available for shipping
Kranzelhof Sauvignon Blanc Aries 2019 is a white wine that shows Sauvignon Blanc in a more layered style than the purely stainless-steel, razor-fresh expression. It comes from South Tyrol, Alto Adige, in northern Italy, and the 2019 vintage was identified by Falstaff as Aries Sauvignon Mitterberg IGT.
The wine was matured for 12 months, with part of that maturation taking place in barrique. That gives it extra depth while keeping the aromatic Sauvignon Blanc character clearly in view. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of white wine that works well when someone wants freshness, but also enough structure and presence for food.
Kranzelhof is based in Cermes/Tscherms near Merano/Meran, with vineyards on slopes in the Merano basin. For Aries, the (…)
