Château Pavie Macquin 2020 is the estate's grand vin from Saint-Émilion, rooted in the clay-limestone plateau that shapes much of its identity. As a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, the 2020 vintage has a notably serious profile: concentrated and structured, yet carried by freshness and limestone tension rather than sheer weight alone.
The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were hand-harvested, with parcel-by-parcel vinification in concrete vats and gravity-fed whole berries. Maturation lasted 16 to 20 months in barriques, split between new barrels and one-wine-old barrels. For this vintage, the château highlights the deep colour and significant tannin load of the grapes, handled through gentle, moderate (…)Chateau Pavie Macquin 2021

Chateau Pavie Macquin 2021

Château Pavie Macquin 2021 is a serious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and the estate's grand vin, with Premier Grand Cru Classé B status. The name also carries a historical link to Albert Macquin, an important figure in Saint-Émilion after the phylloxera crisis.
The 2021 vintage shows the more precise, cooler side of Pavie Macquin. Its fruit comes from the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, where clay-limestone soils, red and brown clay, and astéries limestone shape the wine's firm, chalky structure. Rather than leaning on sheer richness, this vintage is described through freshness, tension, finesse and mineral grip.
The blend is led by Merlot, with a notable share of Cabernet Franc and a small addition of Cabernet (…)Chateau Pavie Macquin 2022

Chateau Pavie Macquin 2022

Château Pavie Macquin 2022 is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from France and the grand vin of Château Pavie Macquin, a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate. The 2022 blend is led by merlot at 80%, supported by 19% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon, grown on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.
The interest of this vintage lies in the meeting of a warm, dry year with a terroir capable of keeping tension in the wine. The château highlights the role of its clay-limestone soils: clay brought power and water retention, while limestone helped preserve mineral drive and aromatic freshness. Vinification took place parcel by parcel in concrete vats, with whole berries moved by gravity and a more careful extraction approach than in some (…)Chateau Pavie Macquin 2022 Demi (37,5cl)

Chateau Pavie Macquin 2022 Demi (37,5cl)
In stock
Château Pavie Macquin 2022 Demi is the estate's grand vin in half-bottle format. The wine itself remains a dry red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from a Premier Grand Cru Classé; the 37.5 cl size simply gives it a more intimate serving format. It is a thoughtful choice when you want to open a serious Bordeaux without committing to a full bottle.
The wine comes from the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, around the Mondot hill and the Fongaban fault. The 2022 blend is led by merlot, supported by cabernet franc and a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. For this vintage, the estate highlights the force of the clay, the mineral tension of the limestone and the aromatic freshness that came through even under the year's extreme climatic conditions.
