Timorous Beastie Phantom Smoke (Douglas Laing Regional Malts) Incl. Box
In stock
Timorous Beastie Phantom Smoke shows a new side of Douglas Laing's Highland malt. The familiar Timorous Beastie spirit is joined here by peated Highland malt for the first time, giving this limited edition a darker, smokier voice than the name might usually suggest.
Its Crocodile Casks are central to the style: heavily charred casks chosen to add depth, intensity and a more brooding edge. Bottled at cask strength, 54.2% ABV, with no colouring and no chill filtration, it keeps a firm and direct presence in the glass.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of release we would point out to someone who knows Timorous Beastie but wants to explore what peat smoke and charred wood can bring to that Highland foundation. With 3,000 bottles worldwide, Phantom Smoke (…)Chichibu The Peated 2026 Incl. Box

Chichibu The Peated 2026 Incl. Box

Chichibu The Peated 2026 brings back a style that had been absent for four years. No new peated Single Malt in this line had appeared since 2022, and this release once again reflects the precision and Japanese craftsmanship associated with Ichiro Akuto's distillery.
More than forty casks of heavily peated whisky were selected for this edition, with a peat level of 50 ppm. Most of the whisky matured in first fill bourbon casks, while part of the composition comes from Oloroso sherry casks and hogsheads assembled by hand in the distillery's own cooperage. The result is not just about smoke; it brings together peat, citrus, fruit, gourmand notes and a subtle saline dimension.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this Chichibu stands out as a highly limited Japanese peated (…)Kilchoman 100% Islay 15th Edition

Kilchoman 100% Islay 15th Edition
On request only
Kilchoman 100% Islay 15th Edition is a single malt with a very clear sense of place. Everything happens on Islay, from growing the barley to bottling the whisky, so the name is more than a style reference. It is a release built around origin, continuity and the island itself.
This 15th edition was distilled from the 2014 and 2015 harvests and matured for at least 9 years in 54 ex-bourbon casks. That maturation brings caramel, vanilla and butterscotch into the whisky, while Kilchoman's natural citrus sweetness and peat smoke remain firmly present. The supplied profile points to fruit and peat as the main lines, supported by lighter wood, spice and floral touches.

Mars 8y Asagi Madara is a Japanese blended whisky from Mars Maltage, aged for 8 years and bottled at 48%. Its appeal lies in a style where fruit and floral notes are given real space, rather than being hidden behind heavy wood or smoke.
There is some wood influence and a measured touch of spice, but these elements support the whisky rather than taking over. A light peated note adds depth in the background, keeping the profile more nuanced than overtly smoky.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Japanese blend we would point to when someone is looking for structure, aromatic detail and a slightly more composed drinking experience. The combination of age, strength and flavour profile gives it presence without losing refinement.

Lagg Inaugural Release 3 belongs to the early story of Lagg on the Isle of Arran. This Scottish single malt was distilled in 2019 and bottled at 50%, with a Wine Finish giving this release its own place within the distillery's first wave of bottlings.
The release was limited to 10,000 bottles, and with the last bottles now in focus it has a particular relevance at Drankenshop Broekmans. We see it as a snapshot from the formative years of Lagg: young, clearly defined and already showing a firm sense of direction.
Its flavour profile points to a whisky where fruit and peat carry the main impression, supported by lighter floral, woody, spicy and slightly salty accents. The 50% strength adds presence, making this a single malt with a more pronounced stance rather (…)Bowmore 2001 15y Artist (La Maison Du Whisky - Artist Collection)

Campbeltown Blended Malt 6y (Campbeltown Whisky Company - Watt Whisky)

Campbeltown Blended Malt 6y is a young Scottish blended malt with a very direct cask-driven presentation. Bottled by Watt Whisky for the Campbeltown Whisky Company, it comes from a single bourbon barrel and was released at natural cask strength, 58.6% ABV.
Its appeal lies in that sense of focus. This is not a broad vatting designed to smooth everything into one house style, but a single-cask release of just 252 bottles. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2023, it captures one specific six-year maturation, now down to the last bottles.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like to point out to drinkers who enjoy a more vivid look at Campbeltown blended malt. Laphroaig 2016 10 Year Old Rum Cask Finish is an Islay single malt bottled by Douglas Laing for the Old Particular range, as part of the Paradise In Smoke Collection. It keeps the unmistakable Laphroaig identity in view: medicinal peat smoke, maritime depth and a firm smoky presence.
The distinctive twist is its finish in a Trinidad rum cask. That finish brings a more exotic layer to the whisky, adding notes of tropical fruit, brown sugar and soft caramel around the classic Islay smoke. It does not soften the whisky into something anonymous; it gives Laphroaig a more adventurous edge.

Gouden Carolus Blaasveld Broek is a Belgian single malt whisky with a clearly peated side. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it stands out as a Belgian whisky for drinkers who are drawn to smoke and structure rather than a broadly sweet or heavily fruity style.
Distilled in 2017 and matured in oak cask, it carries no age statement. That shifts the focus to its character in the glass: peat is the main feature, while wood, spice, fruit and floral notes play a lighter supporting role.
Bottled at 46% in a 50 cl format, this Gouden Carolus has a compact but expressive identity. It is a Belgian single malt where smoke and oak shape the experience, with the other elements kept more restrained.

Cotswolds Peated Single Malt is an English single malt with a thoughtful take on smoke. The whisky comes from Cotswolds Distillery in Stourton, Warwickshire, and is made with 100% locally grown, traditionally floor-malted barley from the Cotswolds. Its smoky side does not come from peated malt; it comes from full maturation in ex-peated quarter casks from Islay.
That detail matters. The fruity Cotswolds spirit remains at the centre, while the small casks add peat smoke, vanilla and a darker edge without turning the whisky into a heavily peated style. The distillery describes the impression as smoky vanilla ice cream, a neat way of capturing the meeting point between fruit, oak-derived vanilla and smoke.

There is no age statement here, so the focus is firmly on style and composition rather than on a number. At 48% ABV, it has enough strength to carry its peated character with presence and definition.

Benriach Malting Season 2nd Edition brings the focus back to one of the most tangible parts of the distillery: the malting floors that have stood at the heart of Benriach for more than 120 years. During the annual Malting Season, barley is malted there in the traditional way, giving this single malt a direct link to the craft inside the distillery.
This 9-year-old Speyside whisky was distilled in 2013 and matured in a bourbon barrel. At 48.9%, it has enough strength to carry its malt-driven character, while still leaving room for fruit, floral notes and gentle spice to come through clearly.

Ardbeg Smokiverse is the Ardbeg Day 2025 Limited Edition, released around the finale of Fèis Ìle on Islay. It remains firmly in Ardbeg territory, yet this edition puts extra focus on fruitier and sweeter notes alongside the distillery's smoky Islay identity.
For this release, the distillery experimented with high gravity mashing: more grain and less water in the mash tun. That creates a denser wort and gives greater emphasis to flavour-active acetate esters. In the glass, that detail matters because Smokiverse shows a more explosive, estery and fruit-led side of Ardbeg without stepping away from peat smoke.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as one of those releases that captures a particular chapter in the Ardbeg story. Bottled at 48.3% and (…)Mars The Y.A #5 Incl. Box

Yakushima's climate is not just background information here. Mild winters, warm summers and very high humidity encourage an active exchange between spirit and wood, with annual evaporation estimated at 7 to 14%. That helps explain the whisky's combination of tropical fruit, gentle smoke, saline tension and deeper umami notes.

The recipe remains close to the original, with maturation led mainly by Sherry casks and supported by Bourbon casks. The key difference is the strength: instead of being reduced to 46%, this edition is bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.5%.
That higher bottling strength brings the more generous side of Kilchoman's Islay single malt into sharper focus. Peat smoke, Sherry-led richness, dried fruit, red fruit and warming spice all feel more pronounced, while the whisky remains unchill-filtered and bottled without added colouring.

Kilchoman Family Collection Ex Bourbon 18y presents a more mature side of Kilchoman. For this Islay single malt, eighteen years of ageing is an important milestone: the heavily peated malt still gives the whisky its unmistakable smoky foundation, but time in bourbon barrels has softened the edges and brought greater aromatic depth.
The interest here lies in the way the peat has settled into the whisky. It remains clear, yet more refined, sitting alongside ripe fruit, vanilla and a gentle toasted wood influence. It feels like a grown-up reading of the Kilchoman style rather than a forceful display of peat alone.
