Ardbeg Uigeadail Incl. Box

Ardbeg Uigeadail, pronounced Oog-a-dal, takes its name from Loch Uigeadail, the water source connected to the making of this Islay single malt. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see it as one of those whiskies that explains its reputation in the glass: firmly peated, full-bodied and shaped by a carefully chosen marriage of casks.
The heart of Uigeadail is its vatting method. Ardbeg combines deep smoky notes from old American oak bourbon casks with the savoury, raisin-like character of old Oloroso sherry casks. That is what gives this whisky its particular tension: the traditional Ardbeg house style remains bold and smoky, while the sherry influence adds a darker sweetness and extra depth.
Bottled at 54.2%, it has plenty of natural strength. Enjoyed neat, it shows (…)Big Peat 12y (Douglas Laing) Tube Incl.

Big Peat 12y (Douglas Laing) Tube Incl.

Big Peat 12y takes the familiar Big Peat story into a more mature register. This Islay blended malt is bottled by Douglas Laing as part of the Regional Malts range, a series built around clear, classic expressions of Scotland's whisky regions.
With Big Peat, that regional identity is unmistakably Islay: peat, maritime salinity, smoke, charred oak and darker ashy tones. The 12 years of age give the whisky more depth and cohesion, while keeping the bold coastal character that defines the name.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a natural step for anyone who enjoys the original Big Peat and wants to taste what extra maturation brings to that same robust style. Bottled at 46%, without added colouring and without chill filtration, it keeps its presentation (…)Ardbeg Renaissance

Ardbeg Renaissance

Ardbeg Renaissance is an Islay single malt from Scotland with peat firmly at the centre of its personality. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this bottle in front of someone looking for a clearly defined Ardbeg rather than a gentle introduction to the style.
Distilled in 1998 and matured in oak cask, it carries its strength at 55.9% alcohol with real presence. There is no age statement attached in the supplied details, so the focus naturally shifts to the individual identity of the release: smoky, coastal in feel, and unmistakably rooted in Islay.
With the last bottles indicated and the release marked as a collectors item, Ardbeg Renaissance also has a scarcity that adds to its appeal. It is the sort of bottle that stands apart in a whisky selection (…)Octomore 16.1 Tube Incl.

Octomore 16.1 is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich with peat placed firmly at the centre of the experience. Bottled at cask strength and 59.3% ABV, it presents itself with real intensity rather than a softened, rounded style.
Distilled in 2020 and matured for 5 years in bourbon barrels, this release keeps the focus quite clear. The peat is the dominant feature, supported by a distinctly salty side, while the wood influence remains relatively light. Fruit and spice are present only as supporting accents, giving some lift without changing the whisky's core identity.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, Octomore 16.1 belongs among the bottles we would point out to customers looking for a bold, heavily peated Islay malt where cask strength and youthful energy are part (…)Octomore 14.3

Octomore 14.3 is a Scottish single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled at cask strength with an alcoholic strength of 61.4%. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it stands out as a whisky where peat is not a supporting note, but the main statement.
Distilled in 2017 and aged for 5 years, it presents a direct and powerful side of Islay whisky. The profile is strongly peated, with a clear salty dimension running alongside lighter touches of wood, spice and fruit.
For drinkers looking for an Islay single malt built around intensity, smoke and coastal character, Octomore 14.3 speaks with a very clear voice.
The flavour profile is led by peat smoke, firm and unmistakably present. A clear salty edge gives it a pronounced coastal feel in line with its (…)Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release

Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release

Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release is an Islay single malt with peat and salinity at the centre of its character. Bourbon cask maturation appears here as a supporting element, adding light wood influence, a touch of spice and a modest fruity edge around the smoky, coastal profile.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this bottle among the scarcer Ardbeg releases rather than everyday drinking stock. It is a Committee Release, bottled at cask strength at 53.8%, with no age statement and marked as a collector's item. With only the last bottles remaining, its limited availability is very much part of the appeal.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would introduce to someone looking for a forceful Islay single malt rather than a softened interpretation of the style. Octomore 14.2 is compact, powerful and unmistakably driven by peat and coastal character.

Octomore 14.1 is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich with a very direct sense of power. Bottled at cask strength at 59.6%, it places peat firmly at the centre, supported by a clearly salty side that gives the whisky a strong island identity.
Distilled in 2017 and matured for 5 years in a bourbon barrel, this release is not presented as a wood-driven whisky. The available flavour profile gives oak little emphasis, so the focus stays on peat intensity, salinity and the energy of a young cask-strength single malt.

Drawn from one Bourbon Hogshead and bottled at 47.7%, it was released in just 158 bottles. At Drankenshop Broekmans, bottles like this are the ones we tend to pause over: old Ardbeg, independent bottling, single cask origin and a very small outturn all in one place.

Bunnahabhain Staoisha 2014 6y is a strongly peated Islay single malt with a direct, uncompromising feel. Bottled by The Nectar as part of the Daily Dram range, it focuses on the personality of one individual cask rather than on a broad house-style presentation.
Distilled on 28 October 2014 and bottled on 1 January 2021, it spent 6 years in cask before being released at 60.1% ABV. That strength is part of the appeal here: this is a cask strength single cask bottling, with a total outturn of just 291 bottles.

It is a concise but very effective way of putting a specific Islay identity in the spotlight.
The strength is an important part of the story here. Bottled at cask strength at 63.5%, Oc2 keeps a powerful, direct presence rather than being shaped into a softer standard release. Its wine maturation gives this heavily peated Islay whisky a distinct setting, while the absence of an age statement keeps the focus on batch character and cask selection.

The appeal lies in the comparison. Peat smoke and a salty Islay character form the main thread, while gentle spice, light fruit and a modest touch of wood add some supporting detail. It is not a broad, neutral whisky selection; it is a focused introduction to a clearly smoky Ardbeg style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this kind of set is especially interesting for customers who enjoy tasting with a purpose, sharing a few drams, or giving a whisky gift with a strong identity. As these are the last bottles, (…)Ballechin Straight From The Cask'10 10ybb
