Mhoba 2020 Single Cask Bourbon Nectar

Mhoba 2020 Single Cask Bourbon Nectar is a South African rum made from sugar cane juice and distilled in a pot still. That already places it in a more distinctive corner of the rum world, with the raw material playing a central role in the identity of the spirit.
This release is all about focus and small-scale character. It was drawn from a single Bourbon Barrel and bottled at cask strength, 57.4%, with just 142 bottles produced. Rather than a broad house style, it presents one individual cask in a concentrated form.
For Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle that adds depth to a rum selection: South African origin, cane juice production, pot still distillation and single cask bottling come together in a rum with a clearly defined place of its (…)Jamaica 2010 13y Wpl Nectar (1423 Single Barrel Selection) Incl. Jamaica 2010 13y Wpl Nectar is a Jamaican molasses rum, pot still distilled and bottled at cask strength. It is not presented as a softened or polished style, but as a strong, direct single cask release with plenty of room for the rum's own character.
Distilled in 2010 and bottled in September 2023, it matured for 13 years in a bourbon barrel. Only 252 bottles came from this cask, so this is a very focused release rather than a broad, standard expression.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we place this kind of rum among the bottles for drinkers who appreciate clarity of origin, strength and limited availability. Its profile points towards fruit, floral notes and spice, with wood playing a supporting role. With the last bottles remaining, its small-scale nature is (…)Papalin 6y Haiti Sherry (La Maison & Velier)

Papalin 6y Haiti Sherry (La Maison & Velier)
On request only
Papalin 6y Haiti Sherry from Velier is built around a very distinctive idea: seven casks from three clairin producers, Sajous, Vaval and Casimir, matured in an oloroso sherry cask from Lustau. That combination gives the rum its identity, bringing together the brightness of clairin with the deeper, oxidative tones of sherry maturation.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottling we would point out to someone looking for rum with real presence and detail. Bottled at 54.1%, it carries the directness of cask strength, yet the profile is not simply about power. Floral, spiced and fruity elements remain clearly in play, with the wood influence acting more as a frame than as the whole picture.
With 6 years of age and 2,951 bottles released, this is a (…)Takamaka White (Habitation Velier)

Takamaka White (Habitation Velier)

Takamaka White Hab is a white rum with real weight behind it. Bottled by Velier as part of the Habitation Velier range, it comes from the Seychelles and sits in the sugar cane juice rum category. Pot still distillation and a strength of 56% already tell you that this is a more forceful style than a simple neutral white rum.
Distilled in 2018 and aged for 3 years, it remains free from noticeable wood influence in the supplied profile. That keeps the focus firmly on the spirit itself: floral, spicy and fruity elements are clearly present, with a lighter vegetal edge underneath.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for drinkers who want white rum to have presence, structure and a distinctive distillate-driven profile. Only the last bottles of this (…)Mhoba American Oak Aged

Mhoba American Oak Aged

Mhoba American Oak Aged is a South African rum made from sugar cane juice and distilled in a pot still. That gives it a different starting point from many molasses-based rums, with the raw character of cane sitting closer to the heart of the spirit.
The American oak ageing is given an extra dimension through a whisky finish. With no age statement, the focus falls less on a number and more on style: fruit and spice are the main threads, supported by gentle wood influence, a light floral touch and a subtle vegetal edge.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum we like to place in front of customers who want to explore how varied the category can be when cane juice, pot still distillation and cask influence come together. As these are the last bottles, (…)Port Mourant 2011 10y (Elizabeth Yard With Finishes)

Port Mourant 2011 10y (Elizabeth Yard With Finishes)

Port Mourant 2011 10y from Elizabeth Yard is a molasses-based rum from Guyana, pot still distilled and bottled as a ten-year-old release. Its appeal lies in the directness of the bottling: one single cask, presented at cask strength, with its 53.03% ABV giving the rum a firm and unfiltered presence.
Matured in a bourbon barrel and limited to just 140 bottles, this is not a broad house style or a blended interpretation. It is a close look at one individual cask, selected and bottled with its own profile intact.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of rum that speaks to drinkers who enjoy limited, characterful releases with a clear origin and a clear structure. Bologne 7y 2014 Vel is a Guadeloupe rum made from sugar cane juice and bottled by La Maison & Velier as part of the Flora Antillarum series. It sits in a more origin-driven style of rum, where the cane base, distillation and maturation carry the story rather than overt sweetness.
Distilled in 2014 in a traditional column, it matured for 7 years in Cognac casks. Bottling it at cask strength, 54.9%, keeps the presentation direct and concentrated, with the kind of presence one expects from a Velier selection.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the sort of rum we place in front of customers looking beyond the usual categories and into more distinctive sugar cane juice releases. Guadeloupe origin, Cognac maturation and the Flora Antillarum bottling context give (…)Saint James Single Cask 2001

Saint James Single Cask 2001 is a Martinique sugar cane juice rum with a very specific identity: it was drawn from a single cask. Distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2016, it represents one particular cask from the Saint James distillery rather than a broader blended expression.
Maturation in oak barrels that previously held bourbon brings notes associated with vanilla, caramel and toasted wood. What makes the rum appealing is the way that cask influence sits alongside fruit, floral tones and spice, rather than simply dominating the spirit.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum we like to present to customers who want to explore the more individual side of aged agricole-style rum. It has the structure of oak, the brightness of fruit and a measured (…)Dillon Wit 1l

A1710 La Perle Rare Bleue is a Martinique rum built around a very specific expression of sugar cane. It is certified organic, parcel-based and made from a single cane variety: B69-566, known as Canne Bleue. That gives the bottle a clear focus, with the cane itself at the centre of the story.
The sugar cane is grown on A1710's plot at Habitation du Simon. Rather than leaning on wood influence, this cuvée is about the character of one variety from one place. At Drankenshop Broekmans, that makes it a particularly interesting bottle to introduce when someone wants to explore rum through its raw material and origin.

Hampden 2012 9y is a Jamaican molasses rum bottled by The Nectar under the Daily Dram label. Its appeal lies in its focused, small-batch nature: pot still distillation, maturation in a Bourbon Barrel, a single cask release and bottling at cask strength. At 60.8% ABV, this is a rum with real presence rather than a softened standard bottling.
Distilled in 2012 and bottled in September 2021, it spent 9 years maturing before being drawn from one individual cask. Only 257 bottles were released, so this is a narrow and clearly defined edition. With the final bottles now available, it has the kind of scarcity that naturally attracts attention among rum drinkers looking for something specific.
