Château de Fonbel 2019 is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux, made from vineyards south of the village of Saint-Émilion. The estate belongs to the Vauthier family and is run by Alain and Pauline Vauthier. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it stands out as a wine where origin, vintage and family craftsmanship come together in a very clear way.
The 2019 blend is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and a small but distinctive share of Carménère. That Carménère element gives Fonbel an extra twist within Saint-Émilion, matching the estate's own description of a wine built around fruit, elegance and subtlety, with spicy and liquorice-like touches.

The grapes come from vineyards south of the village of Saint-Émilion, planted on clay, sand and gravel soils.
In the cellar, the approach remains measured: vinification (…)Chateau De Fonbel 2022 Magnum (1,5l)

Château de Fonbel 2022 in magnum is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux, made by an estate owned by the Vauthier family since 1971. The connection with Château Ausone gives it an interesting background, yet Fonbel has its own clear identity: a merlot-led blend supported by cabernet sauvignon and a small but distinctive share of carménère.
That touch of carménère is part of what makes this wine stand out. It brings a spicy, lightly smoky nuance to the ripe fruit character of the vintage. The grapes come from roughly 16 hectares south of the village of Saint-Émilion, on soils of sand, clay and gravel. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by ageing partly in barrel and (…)
