We also recently added a number of new beers to our range, which can now be found on our webshop and are definitely worth tasting! So, beer lovers... be sure to read on. This blog is for you.

International Beer Day

Beer Day began in Santa Cruz, California, with the aim of celebrating brewing and showing appreciation for everyone involved in beer making. It quickly grew into an international celebration, also honouring bartenders and other beer experts. Within a year, it was recognised worldwide and is now celebrated in 207 cities, 50 countries and on six continents.

The history of Belgian Beer

Belgium has a rich beer history dating back to the Middle Ages, when monks started brewing beer in abbeys to improve water quality. Famous abbeys such as Westvleteren, Chimay and Orval are known for their high-quality beers. Over time, Belgium developed a wide range of beer styles, including lambic, gueuze, tripels, dubbels and saison. Lambic, one of the oldest styles, is made via spontaneous fermentation and often matures for years in wooden barrels, creating complex, sour flavours. Trappist beers, brewed within Trappist monasteries, also play an important role in Belgian beer culture and must meet strict criteria to carry the Authentic Trappist Product label. Belgium is home to six of the 12 Trappist breweries worldwide. Today, Belgium is a leading beer country with more than 1,500 beer brands and a wide variety of breweries, from large to small. Belgian beer culture, known for its diversity and quality, has been recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.

Old Beersel

A Belgian beer brand has also recently appeared on our webshop. Have you spotted it yet? Oud Beersel Brewery, located in picturesque Beersel, Belgium, is an icon in the world of traditional lambic beers. Founded in 1882 by Henri Vandervelden, this brewery remained in the family for more than a century until it had to close its doors in 2002. Fortunately, the brewery was revived in 2005 by Gert Christiaens, who was determined to continue the rich tradition.
Oud Beersel is known for maintaining traditional brewing methods, while also embracing modern techniques to ensure the quality of their beers. Their lambic beers, one of the oldest and most traditional styles of beer in Belgium, are loved worldwide.

Try them out!

As a creative jack-of-all-trades in the marketing world, I also bring that imaginative flair to my drink choices. Whether on a night out, sunny vacation or social gathering with girlfriends, I'm always in my element with a refreshing cocktail in hand. Cocktails have stolen my heart because of the endless possibilities to experiment and explore. My favorite cocktail of the moment is the "Lazy Red Cheeks"! A delicious cocktail using vodka as a base. I love vodka because it mixes perfectly with non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite spirit? Rum!
