Carmes de Rieussec 2019 is the second wine of Château Rieussec in Sauternes, Bordeaux. In this 37.5 cl half bottle, it gives a very accessible way to enjoy the sweet white style of the estate without opening a full bottle.
Its background is firmly rooted in Sauternes: gravelly soils, the influence of the Ciron and the development of noble rot all shape the wine. The 2019 blend is led by Sémillon, supported by Sauvignon Blanc and a small proportion of Muscadelle. That combination brings sweetness, aromatic depth and a line of freshness that keeps the wine lively.
The 2019 vintage required careful selection. September rain encouraged botrytis, but the harvest had to be handled strictly to keep only clean, high-quality fruit. The musts fermented in (…)Chateau Barbier 2016

Chateau Barbier 2016

Chateau Barbier 2016 is a sweet white wine from Sauternes, made from 100% Sémillon. It belongs to the Bordeaux tradition of wines shaped by patience in the vineyard: overripe grapes concentrated by noble rot are picked by hand in several successive passes, following the development of Botrytis cinerea.
Its origin is Fargues, in the south-eastern part of the Sauternes appellation, on clay-gravel soils near Château du Mouret. Château Barbier forms part of the Médeville family's vineyard holdings, a Bordeaux wine family active since 1826, with estates on both banks of the Garonne. Within that portfolio, this is their Sauternes wine.
The 2016 vintage brings together sweetness, aromatic depth and the rounded texture associated with (…)Chateau D'Yquem 2013 Demi (37,5cl)

Château d'Yquem 2013 Demi is the 37.5 cl half-bottle format of this sweet white Sauternes wine. It is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a smaller bottle, well suited to moments when opening a full bottle would be too much yet the character of Yquem is exactly what is wanted.
The 2013 vintage is based on 70% sémillon and 30% sauvignon blanc. Harvesting took place in several successive passes, selecting berries concentrated by noble rot rather than picking everything at once. Only around 40% of the crop was retained for the final wine, a detail that says much about the selectiveness behind this release.
Fermentation took place in new French oak barriques, with each lot assessed separately before the final blend was decided after (…)Chateau D'Yquem 2016

Chateau D'Yquem 2016 is a sweet white wine from Sauternes, produced by one of the appellation's most distinctive names and classified as Premier Cru Supérieur. The 2016 blend is led by Sémillon, supported by Sauvignon Blanc, giving the wine a framework in which sweetness and concentration are expected to be matched by clarity and freshness.
The vintage has a very specific story. A hot, very dry summer was followed by September rain and sunny periods that encouraged noble rot. Harvesting was carried out in four separate selections, continuing into early November, with a significant share of the crop arriving only in the final weeks. In the end, only around 40% of the harvest was used for the grand vin, a detail that says a great deal about the level of (…)Chateau D'Yquem 2016 Demi (37,5cl)

Château d'Yquem 2016 Demi is the half-bottle format of Château d'Yquem 2016, the sweet white wine from Sauternes in Bordeaux. The 37.5 cl size does not indicate a separate cuvée; it is the same wine in a smaller bottle, well suited to thoughtful serving at the table.
Yquem has a singular position in Sauternes: it is the only estate classified as Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac. The 2016 vintage is made from 75% sémillon and 25% sauvignon blanc, with grapes concentrated by noble rot. Harvesting took place in four successive passes between late September and early November, following a warm, very dry summer and a cool, dry autumn that allowed botrytis to develop slowly and evenly.

Chateau De Rayne Vigneau 2021 is a white wine from Sauternes in France, with the vintage forming an essential part of its identity. Rather than being presented as a generic white wine, this bottle is defined by a specific origin and a specific year.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see it as a focused choice for customers looking deliberately for a French white wine from Sauternes. The 13.5% alcohol gives a practical point of reference, but the real interest lies in the combination of château name, region and vintage.
These are also the last bottles, so this is not a wine we can treat as continuously available. For anyone seeking Chateau De Rayne Vigneau 2021 specifically, that limited remaining stock is part of the context around the bottle.

Château de Rayne Vigneau 2021 Demi is a white sweet wine from Sauternes in Bordeaux, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. That smaller format suits the style very well: Sauternes is often poured in measured glasses alongside dessert, blue cheese, foie gras or a more refined aperitif moment.
The estate is based in Bommes and carries the 1855 Premier Grand Cru Classé status for Sauternes. The wine follows the classic pattern of the appellation, with Sémillon as the leading grape and Sauvignon Blanc as a second component. Its concentration comes from noble rot, Botrytis cinerea, with the grapes picked by hand in successive selections as they reach the desired level of ripeness and concentration.

Château de Rayne Vigneau 2022 is a classic Sauternes in the true sense: a white sweet wine from Bordeaux, produced by the Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in Bommes. This is the château's main wine, not the dry white, and it carries the character of a serious blanc liquoreux shaped by noble rot, careful selection and concentration.
The 2022 blend is led by Sémillon, with Sauvignon Blanc and a small proportion of Muscadelle. The grapes come from the estate's own vineyards on a ridge above the Sauternes appellation, from vines with an average age of around 40 years. Harvesting is done by hand in several selective passes, so that only grapes affected at the right stage by Botrytis cinerea are picked.

Château de Rayne Vigneau 2022 Demi is a sweet white Sauternes from Bordeaux, bottled in the practical 37.5 cl half-bottle format. The château is a Premier Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification and is based in Bommes, on a ridge overlooking the Sauternes appellation. The 2022 vintage is made from sémillon, sauvignon blanc and a small proportion of muscadelle. Château de Rayne Vigneau 2022 in magnum is a sweet white Sauternes with real pedigree: the estate's grand vin and a Premier Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification. The 1.5-litre format is a bottle size rather than a separate cuvée, giving the wine extra presence at the table.
It comes from Bommes in the Sauternes appellation, where autumn morning mists from the nearby Ciron can encourage the development of noble rot. The 2022 blend is 73% sémillon, 24% sauvignon blanc and 3% muscadelle. Grapes are picked in successive selective passes, taking only those with the right level of concentration.

Chateau Doisy Vedrines 2020 is a sweet white Bordeaux from Sauternes, closely linked to Barsac and its refined style of botrytised wines. The 2020 vintage is described less as a heavy, opulent Sauternes and more as a fresh, citrus-driven wine where sweetness is lifted by acidity.
The estate brings serious heritage to the bottle. Château Doisy-Védrines is a Deuxième Cru Classé from the 1855 Sauternes and Barsac classification, with vineyards on the clay-limestone rise of Haut-Barsac. That setting is reflected in the chalky, mineral nuances often mentioned in tasting descriptions of this vintage.

Chateau Doisy Vedrines 2022 is a sweet white wine from Sauternes, produced in Barsac within Bordeaux. The estate is a Deuxième Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, and this wine is the château's grand vin. That places it firmly in a traditional Sauternes setting: carefully selected fruit, noble rot, sweetness and freshness working together.
The 2022 blend is led by sémillon, with sauvignon blanc and a small proportion of muscadelle. Harvesting took place over several picking days and selection rounds, a crucial point for Sauternes because botrytised grapes reach the right condition gradually. Ageing in French oak barriques, partly new, adds structure around the wine's naturally rich fruit.

The blend is 65% sémillon and 35% sauvignon blanc. That relatively high proportion of sauvignon blanc is part of Guiraud's identity in Sauternes and helps explain the firmer, fresher structure of the wine. Harvesting is done by hand in successive passes through the vineyard, selecting only botrytised berries. No chaptalisation or cryo-extraction is used, so the richness comes from the grapes themselves.

The 2010 vintage is a blend of 65% sémillon and 35% sauvignon blanc. The grapes were affected by noble rot and harvested entirely by hand between 20 September and 2 November, through successive selections in the vineyard. Brumes de La Tour Blanche is the château's lighter, fresher cuvée. It is made from a selection of less concentrated juices gathered through successive manual pickings, using the traditional Sauternes varieties: sémillon, sauvignon blanc and muscadelle. The 2019 vintage has the kind of story that makes Sauternes so fascinating. Rain in September allowed noble rot to develop gradually on ripe grapes left on the vine, before dry high-pressure weather brought rapid concentration. The harvest therefore had to be short, careful and selective.
Fermentation took place in 225-litre French oak barriques, followed by 12 months in barrique, one third of them new, and a further 6 months in stainless steel. That ageing gives support to the wine's (…)Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2019 Demi (37,5cl)
