Château de Rayne Vigneau 2021 Demi is a white sweet wine from Sauternes in Bordeaux, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. That smaller format suits the style very well: Sauternes is often poured in measured glasses alongside dessert, blue cheese, foie gras or a more refined aperitif moment.The estate is based in Bommes and carries the 1855 Premier Grand Cru Classé status for Sauternes. The wine follows the classic pattern of the appellation, with Sémillon as the leading grape and Sauvignon Blanc as a second component. Its concentration comes from noble rot, Botrytis cinerea, with the grapes picked by hand in successive selections as they reach the desired level of ripeness and concentration.
Vinification takes place in barriques, followed by 18 months of ageing, part of it in new oak. For the 2021 vintage, the emphasis is on freshness, length and tension within the naturally sweet, concentrated Sauternes style.

Château de Rayne Vigneau is a historic wine producer from the Sauternes appellation in the Bordeaux region, France. The estate is located in the commune of Bommes and owes its name to its former owner, the marquis de Rayne, who further developed the domaine in the 19th century. The vineyards of Château de Rayne Vigneau stretch over a characteristic ridge overlooking the Ciron and Garonne rivers, a key location for the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) that is essential for authentic Sauternes. In 1855, Château de Rayne Vigneau was officially recognized as Premier Grand Cru Classé in the renowned classification of Bordeaux wines, a status that is still held today.
