Château d'Yquem 2013 Demi is the 37.5 cl half-bottle format of this sweet white Sauternes wine. It is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a smaller bottle, well suited to moments when opening a full bottle would be too much yet the character of Yquem is exactly what is wanted.The 2013 vintage is based on 70% sémillon and 30% sauvignon blanc. Harvesting took place in several successive passes, selecting berries concentrated by noble rot rather than picking everything at once. Only around 40% of the crop was retained for the final wine, a detail that says much about the selectiveness behind this release.
Fermentation took place in new French oak barriques, with each lot assessed separately before the final blend was decided after further ageing and selection. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we see as more than a sweet wine: it is a Sauternes where concentration, freshness and patient selection are all part of the same story.

About CH D'YQUEM
Château d'Yquem is a French winery that is world-renowned for its exclusive and long-lived Sauternes, a noble sweet white wine from the Bordeaux region. The estate is located in the Sauternes appellation in the south of Bordeaux and has a rich history dating back to the end of the 16th century. Château d'Yquem is the only winery in Sauternes with the Premier Cru Supérieur classification, a status it received during the famous 1855 classification. The grape varieties used are mainly Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, with the grapes being picked extremely carefully by hand, often in several passes for optimal ripeness and the desired effect of so-called noble rot (Botrytis cinerea).
