Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2019 is a white sweet wine from Sauternes, produced by an estate classified as Premier Cru Classé in 1855. This is the château's first wine, built around a dominant share of sémillon with a smaller part of sauvignon blanc.The 2019 vintage has the kind of story that makes Sauternes so fascinating. Rain in September allowed noble rot to develop gradually on ripe grapes left on the vine, before dry high-pressure weather brought rapid concentration. The harvest therefore had to be short, careful and selective.
Fermentation took place in 225-litre French oak barriques, followed by 12 months in barrique, one third of them new, and a further 6 months in stainless steel. That ageing gives support to the wine's richness while keeping the fruit, freshness and botrytis character clearly in view.

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a historic wine estate located in the Sauternes region in Bordeaux, France, an area internationally renowned for its sweet white wines. The winery traces its origins to the 17th century and has had various owners over the centuries. Since 1855, Lafaurie-Peyraguey has held the status of Premier Cru Classé, a designation granted to the best Sauternes vineyards during the famous Bordeaux classification. The estate has vineyards in the heart of the appellation, with a terroir that is ideal for cultivating sémillon, sauvignon blanc, and muscadelle, the traditional grape varieties for Sauternes.
