Caro 2022

Caro 2022 is the flagship wine of Bodegas CARO in Mendoza, a project created by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite and the Nicolás Catena family. That partnership gives the wine its identity: Mendoza Malbec at the centre, shaped with Cabernet Sauvignon and a Bordeaux-inspired sense of structure.
The 2022 blend is 83% Malbec and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from selected high-altitude vineyard sites in the Uco Valley, including Altamira, Gualtallary and San Pablo. The growing season is described as relatively dry, with healthy grapes and suitable ripeness, in a Mendoza setting defined by intense sunlight, altitude and clear day-night temperature differences.
After hand harvesting and careful selection, fermentation takes place in (…)Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2015

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2015
On request only
Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2015 is a very specific expression of Mendoza Malbec. This dry red wine comes from the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato Alto, within the Uco Valley, and more precisely from the 1.4-hectare Mundus Bacillus Terrae parcel at around 1,390 metres above sea level.
The name refers to the rhizobacteria found in the limestone layers of this site. Catena Zapata describes the soils here as alluvial and calcareous, with scattered limestone and ancient marine deposits. That background helps explain why the wine is so often described through chalky, stony and saline-mineral impressions rather than through fruit alone.
Made from 100% Malbec, the 2015 was fermented in small oak barrels and French oak (…)Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2018

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2018

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2018 is a red wine built around one very specific place. It comes from the Mundus Bacillus Terrae parcel within Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato Alto, in Mendoza's Uco Valley. At around 1,390 metres above sea level and covering roughly 1.4 hectares, this is a tightly focused single-parcel Malbec rather than a broad regional interpretation.
The name refers to soil bacteria and rhizobacteria in the parcel, a detail that says a great deal about Catena Zapata's approach to Adrianna Vineyard. The producer looks at differences in soil, altitude and microclimate as defining elements of the wine. Here, the soils are described as alluvial and calcareous, with calcium carbonate and fossil marine deposits. The (…)Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2018 Magnum (1,5l)

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2018 is a red wine from Mendoza, Argentina, but its real identity lies in one very specific place: the Mundus Bacillus Terrae parcel within Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato Alto. The grapes come from a small plot of around 1.4 hectares at approximately 1,390 metres altitude, on alluvial, calcareous soils with calcium carbonate and marine deposits. Even the name points back to the vineyard, referring to rhizobacteria in the soil.
Made from 100% Malbec, the 2018 vintage was fermented partly in concrete eggs and partly in oak foudres, with a proportion of whole bunches, then aged for 18 months in French oak. The result is not presented as a broad, lush Malbec, but as a firm, high-acid, tannic wine with (…)Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2019 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2019 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2019 is built around a single, clearly defined place. It comes from Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza, more specifically from the Gualtallary District in Tupungato Alto, Uco Valley. Mundus Bacillus Terrae is a 1.4-hectare limestone-rich parcel at 1,390 metres altitude, and its name refers to the microorganisms living in that calcareous soil.
Catena Zapata uses the Adrianna Vineyard wines to show how individual parcels and soil types can shape Malbec. In this case, altitude, limestone, old marine deposits and careful vinification come together in a wine described for its freshness, firm tannins and ageing capacity. The 2019 vintage is made from 100% Malbec, with part of the fermentation in concrete using whole clusters (…)Cheval Des Andes 2016 Magnum (1,5l)

Cheval des Andes 2016 in magnum is a Mendoza red with a clear sense of identity: Argentine Malbec at its core, shaped through the lens of a Bordeaux-inspired blend. The project brings together Château Cheval Blanc from Saint-Émilion and Terrazas de los Andes in Argentina, and that partnership shows in a wine built around fruit, structure and refinement rather than sheer weight.
The 2016 blend is made from Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, sourced from Cheval des Andes' own high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza. Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo and Altamira/La Consulta in the Uco Valley are specifically mentioned, and 2016 is noted as the first vintage composed entirely from the estate's own vineyards. That gives the wine an especially strong sense (…)Cheval Des Andes 2018

Cheval des Andes 2018 is a dry red wine from Mendoza, Argentina, shaped by the meeting of Argentine Malbec and Bordeaux-inspired blending. The 2018 vintage is composed of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, with fruit from Las Compuertas in Lujan de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley.
The project brings together Château Cheval Blanc from Saint-Émilion and Terrazas de los Andes in Mendoza. Established in 1999, Cheval des Andes focuses on combining high-altitude Mendoza vineyards with Bordeaux know-how in selection, vinification and blending. Las Compuertas contributes old ungrafted Malbec vines planted in 1929 at around 1,070 metres, while Paraje Altamira, at about 1,150 metres, adds a cooler origin within the blend.

Cheval Des Andes 2019

Cheval Des Andes 2019 is a Mendoza red wine shaped by an unmistakable dialogue between Argentina and Bordeaux inspiration. It comes from the partnership between Château Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes, built here on an equal blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Malbec gives the wine its Argentine identity, while Cabernet Sauvignon brings freshness, line and structure.
The fruit comes from Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley. For the 2019 vintage, the growing season asked for careful vineyard management, followed by dry conditions and a marked difference between day and night temperatures. In the cellar, each plot was handled separately, allowing the final blend to keep a clear sense of its different origins.

Cheval Des Andes 2020

Cheval Des Andes 2020 is a Mendoza red with a very clear identity: Argentine Malbec brought together with Bordeaux varieties through the collaboration between Château Cheval Blanc of Saint-Émilion and Terrazas de los Andes. The 2020 blend is almost evenly divided between Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, with 2% Petit Verdot, sourced from Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley.
The vintage was warm and dry, and it produced the earliest harvest in the history of Cheval des Andes. Grapes were brought to the cellar in small crates, manually sorted and vinified parcel by parcel under the one parcel, one tank principle. That detail matters here, because the wine is not presented as a simple ripe Mendoza red; it is built from (…)Clos De Los Siete 2019

Clos De Los Siete 2019

Clos De Los Siete 2019 is an Argentinian red wine from Vista Flores in Mendoza's Valle de Uco. It comes from the Clos de los Siete by Michel Rolland project, where several estates within the same high-altitude property contribute to one shared blend. Malbec leads the composition, supported by Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
The vineyards sit at around 1,100 metres above sea level, on sandy and clay soils with large pebbles. That dry continental setting helps shape the wine's style: ripe fruit, substance and freshness in the same glass. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted twice and moved through the cellar by gravity.
After 11 months of ageing, partly in French oak barrels and partly in tanks, the wine has gained depth (…)Clos De Los Siete 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Clos De Los Siete 2019 Magnum is the 1.5 litre bottling of this Argentinian red wine from the Uco Valley, near Vista Flores in the Tunuyán department south of Mendoza. The grapes come from the Clos de los Siete estate at around 1,100 metres altitude, where sandy and clay soils are mixed with large stones. The wine is built around Malbec, with Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completing the blend.
Clos de los Siete is a project led by Michel Rolland, and the 2019 vintage was handled with considerable care. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates, manually sorted before and after destemming, and moved through the cellar by gravity. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, with cold pre-fermentation maceration and (…)Familia Zuccardi Funca Canal Uco Malbec 2019

Familia Zuccardi Funca Canal Uco Malbec 2019

Familia Zuccardi Canal Uco Malbec 2019 is a red wine from Paraje Altamira in Argentina's Valle de Uco, Mendoza. It comes from Finca Canal Uco, a vineyard at around 1,100 metres altitude and an important site for Zuccardi: it was the first vineyard the family planted in this village, on land that had previously been planted with apple trees.
The interest here lies in how directly the wine is shaped around its origin. The grapes were hand harvested with bunch selection, fermentation took place in concrete vats with native yeasts, and maturation also remained in concrete. For this vintage no oak ageing is mentioned, so the focus stays on the fruit, freshness and the stony, calcareous identity of the vineyard.
The 2019 vintage is described as fresh and dry, with (…)Familia Zuccardi Funca Canal Uco Malbec 2021

Familia Zuccardi Finca Canal Uco Malbec 2021 is a red single-vineyard wine from Paraje Altamira in Argentina's Uco Valley, Mendoza. It comes from Finca Canal Uco, at around 1,100 metres above sea level, and is made entirely from Malbec. For Zuccardi, this vineyard carries real meaning: it was the first site the family planted in the Uco Valley, in an area historically irrigated by the Canal Uco.
The vineyard's alluvial soils are central to the wine's identity. Beneath sand and silt lie gravel and large stones coated with calcareous material, a setting reflected in the graphite-like, chalky and mineral details described in tasting notes. The 2021 vintage was cool, with slightly higher rainfall than average, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually while retaining freshness, (…)La Violeta 2013

La Violeta 2013 is an Argentine red wine from Vista Flores in Tunuyán, Mendoza, within the Uco Valley. Produced by Bodega Monteviejo, it is made entirely from Malbec grown in selected parcels at around 1,100 metres above sea level. This is a serious expression of the variety, shaped by site, concentration and time rather than simple ripeness alone.
For La Violeta, Monteviejo selects parcels 5 and 9, considered by the estate to show the elegance, concentration and typical expression of Malbec particularly well. The vineyards stand on alluvial sandy-loam soils with calcareous deposits and a high proportion of stones. The 2013 growing season is described as favourable, with healthy grapes, good ripeness and strong development of colour, tannins and aroma.

Nicolas Catena Zapata 2018 is a dry red wine from Mendoza, Argentina, built around a clear and rather fascinating idea: Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec brought together as an Argentine interpretation of the historic Bordeaux blend. In this 2018 vintage, the blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Malbec, giving Malbec a clearly visible role alongside the Cabernet structure.
The vineyard origin adds real depth to the story. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Gualtallary, from Adrianna Vineyard at around 1,450 metres, while the Malbec comes from Paraje Altamira, from Nicasia Vineyard at around 1,095 metres. Both sites are in the Uco Valley, and the wine reflects that high-altitude Mendoza setting through its freshness, concentration and firm shape. Nicolas Catena Zapata 2018 in magnum is a Mendoza red with real presence. Catena Zapata positions this Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec blend as an Argentine reconstruction of an older Bordeaux-style blending idea, from a time when Malbec played a more significant role in parts of the Médoc.
For the 2018 vintage, the blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Malbec, sourced from high-altitude crus in the Uco Valley: Adrianna in Gualtallary and Nicasia in Paraje Altamira. That origin helps explain the wine's combination of concentration, structure and freshness. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in small vinification units, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are associated with Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, at around 1,450 metres above sea level, while the Malbec comes from Nicasia Vineyard in Paraje Altamira/La Consulta. Nicolas Catena Zapata 2020 is the flagship red wine of Catena Zapata in Mendoza. It is built as a nod to the historic Bordeaux blend, when Malbec played a more prominent role than it does in modern Bordeaux. The 2020 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec gives the wine a classical frame, while its high-altitude Uco Valley origin keeps it firmly rooted in Argentina.
Fruit for this wine comes from sites including Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary and Nicasia Vineyard in Paraje Altamira. Their limestone, gravel, large stones, sand and loam help explain why the wine is described not just in terms of concentration, but also through freshness, tension and a clear mineral thread.

The strength of this Reserva lies in the way different elevated parcels are brought together. The fruit comes from more than one hundred plots at roughly 1,070 to 1,250 metres above sea level. The 2020 growing season was hot and dry, with harvest brought forward in several areas, yet the producer describes grapes that retained acidity, colour and fresh aromatic expression.

Rather than expressing one single plot, it brings together more than 100 parcels from estate vineyards, combining ripe Malbec fruit with floral lift, freshness and rounded tannins.
