Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec 2019 is built around a single, clearly defined place. It comes from Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza, more specifically from the Gualtallary District in Tupungato Alto, Uco Valley. Mundus Bacillus Terrae is a 1.4-hectare limestone-rich parcel at 1,390 metres altitude, and its name refers to the microorganisms living in that calcareous soil.Catena Zapata uses the Adrianna Vineyard wines to show how individual parcels and soil types can shape Malbec. In this case, altitude, limestone, old marine deposits and careful vinification come together in a wine described for its freshness, firm tannins and ageing capacity. The 2019 vintage is made from 100% Malbec, with part of the fermentation in concrete using whole clusters and part in oak foudres, followed by 18 months in French oak barrels.
