Pikesville Rye 6y
In stock
Pikesville Rye 6y is an American straight rye whiskey with a name rooted in history. Pikesville traces back to Maryland rye whiskey and to a brand story reaching into the 1890s. The present 6 year old release is made by Heaven Hill in Kentucky, at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, and matured in rickhouses in Bardstown.
The appeal here is the meeting of old rye heritage and a firmer modern bottling strength. It is aged for 6 years and bottled at 55%, or 110 proof. That is not cask strength, but it does give the whiskey enough power for the rye spice to come through clearly. The mash bill is built on at least 51% rye, with corn and malted barley in support.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we like this as a rye with real backbone: expressive enough to sip neat (…)Elijah Craig Straight Rye

Elijah Craig Straight Rye

Elijah Craig Straight Rye brings the focus firmly onto American rye whiskey: spice, oak structure and a lively fruit-driven side. Bottled at 47%, it has enough presence to carry its profile without relying on an age statement to tell the story.
The American Oak influence gives the whiskey its frame, while the spiced and fruity elements keep it from feeling one-dimensional. A lighter floral touch adds a little lift, making the overall impression more layered than simply woody or strong.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a fitting choice for drinkers exploring American whiskey through a rye lens: clear in style, spice-led, and not built around smoke or peat.
The flavour profile centres on clear oak, spice and fruit. American Oak provides (…)Shenk's Homestead 2024

Shenk's Homestead 2024

Shenk's Homestead 2024 is a Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey from Michter's with rye playing a central role. The mash contains a significant amount of rye, and this 2024 release is made with malted rye, giving the whiskey a clearly individual identity within the American whiskey landscape.
Its maturation is built around two selected wood profiles. Part of the whiskey matured in wood naturally air-dried for 18 months and treated with the house toast and char profile. Another part was matured in special toasted French oak barrels made from Vosges wood air-dried for 24 months.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of American whiskey we like to present for its depth of grain, wood and spice rather than for a simple label category. The character is warm and rich, (…)Hellyers Road The Journeyman Tube Incl.

Hellyers Road The Journeyman is an Australian single malt whisky from Tasmania, bottled by the distillery at 46.2%. Hellyers Road is based in north-west Tasmania and was founded in 1997 from a community of dairy farmers, giving this whisky a background that feels distinctly its own rather than borrowed from more familiar whisky regions.
The name The Journeyman refers to a Hellyers Road programme where whisky makers and specialists spend time at the distillery, working and exchanging knowledge. That sense of craft in motion suits the whisky itself: a small batch marriage of spirit from American oak and port casks, including both older and younger components. It is not presented as a straightforward age-statement whisky, but as a composed Tasmanian single malt built around (…)Woodford Madeira Finish

Woodford Madeira Finish

Woodford Madeira Finish belongs to the 2024 Master's Collection and says a great deal about Woodford's view on cask finishing. The aim is not to cover the whiskey with a new layer of flavour, but to highlight what is already present in the blend.
For this release, Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall explored Madeira cask finishing across bourbon, rye and wheat whiskey. These components were then blended with Woodford's fruity Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey, giving the whiskey a clear emphasis on fruit, spice and mature wood influence.
The Madeira casks, sourced from the islands off the coast of Portugal, are described by the producer as carrying dried fruit, spice and nutty associations from the fortified wine they once held. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see (…)Woodford Batchproof 121.2

Woodford Batchproof 121.2

Woodford Batchproof 121.2 shows Woodford Reserve in a stronger, very limited form. The regular batch is normally adjusted to 90.4 proof before final bottling, while this edition is bottled at 121.2 proof, or 60.6% alcohol. That gives it a more direct connection to the strength and intensity of the cask.
American oak plays an important role in the way this bourbon presents itself, with wood, spice and fruit all clearly part of the experience. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for customers who already appreciate Woodford Reserve and want to explore a more concentrated interpretation of that same bourbon style.
Its limited nature adds to the appeal, but the real interest lies in the way Batchproof 121.2 brings extra weight and presence to a (…)Power's 12y John's Lane New

Power's 12y John's Lane New

Powers 12y John's Lane comes from the Single Pot Still range launched in 2012, a line that also includes Redbreast and Green Spot. Within that family, Powers is presented as the more rustic name: an Irish pot still whiskey built around flavour, weight and a clear sense of character.
It is made in Midleton from equal parts malted and unmalted barley, the foundation of its pot still identity. Twelve years in oak casks add structure, spice and wood influence without taking away from the whiskey's fruit-driven side.
At 46%, it carries a little more strength than usual, giving the red fruit and gentle acidity a firmer voice. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Powers 12y John's Lane as a particularly interesting Irish whiskey for drinkers who want something with more (…)Kyrö Malt Single Cask 50cl Nectar

Kyrö Malt Single Cask 50cl Nectar is a Finnish whisky built around the individuality of one cask. Bottled at 47.2%, it focuses on the character of a single bourbon barrel rather than the consistency of a larger batch.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, releases like this are valued because they show a more specific side of a distillery. The September 2021 bottling date gives this whisky a clear point in time, making it feel more like a particular cask selection than a standard ongoing expression.
The supplied flavour profile points towards fruit, spice and wood, with a lighter floral accent. With only the last bottles remaining, this Kyrö is best understood as a compact, clearly defined release for drinkers who enjoy exploring cask-driven whisky from (…)Aberlour 16y Double Cask Tube Incl.

Aberlour 16y Double Cask is a Speyside single malt where maturation carries much of the conversation. Sixteen years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks gives this whisky its direction: fruit, gentle spice and a polished touch of wood rather than smoke or heaviness.
The supplied information places particular emphasis on oloroso sherry casks made from Spanish oak, alongside American oak influence. That double cask approach brings together floral notes, sweet raisins, soft plum, spice and a light oak presence in a style that feels very much rooted in classic Speyside maturation.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a strong choice for drinkers looking for a mature single malt with clear cask influence and a rounded fruit-spice character. Its Gold (…)Teeling Rising 1 Carcavelo

Teeling Rising 1 Carcavelo is a 21-year-old Irish single malt whiskey bottled at 46%, with its character shaped further by a wine cask finish. It sits on the more mature side of Teeling, built around depth, cask influence and a style that does not rely on peat.
The Carcavelo name points to the finishing story, and the flavour profile supports that direction: fruit, spice and wood are all clearly present, while a lighter floral note adds a softer edge. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would place in front of someone interested in older Irish single malt with a finish that brings extra structure and nuance.

Mars Komagatake 40th Anniversary is a Japanese single malt built around memory and time. Created to mark the 40th anniversary of the distillery founded in 1985, it brings together whiskies distilled in the 1980s, 1990s, 2010s and 2020s.
That selection is what gives the release its real narrative weight. The 2000s are deliberately absent, reflecting the period when the distillery was closed. Rather than presenting a simple age statement, this anniversary bottling captures different chapters of the distillery's life in one composition.
Maturation took place in a carefully selected combination of bourbon, sherry and American white oak casks. Bottled at 50%, it has the structure to carry its woody, spicy and fruity depth while keeping a sense of refinement.

Mars 2020 4y Tsunuki Yak is a Japanese single malt built around the personality of one cask. Drawn from a sherry hogshead and bottled at 58.2% cask strength, it was released in a small outturn of 241 bottles.
Its defining feature is the Yakushima maturation. The supplied production information links Yakushima, south of Kyushu, with a warm and humid climate, marked temperature shifts and a relatively high angel's share. For a young Tsunuki malt, that makes the maturation site an important part of the whisky's identity, especially alongside the influence of the sherry hogshead.

This bottling is linked to Chichibu 2013 Single Virgin Oak Cask #2933, bottled for La Maison du Whisky as part of the French Connections series and also referred to as Tanshozuru within Le Carnaval des Animaux Series by Orane Sigal.
