Malecon 1983 Esplendida Incl. Box

In stock

Malecon 1983 Esplendida is a Cuban rum made from molasses and distilled in a multicolumn style. That gives the rum a composed, polished feel rather than a heavy or forceful one.

Within the rum selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle stands out through its 1983 identity and its Bourbon Barrel cask background. The profile is built around fruit and wood, with gentle spice, a restrained sweetness and a light floral accent adding extra detail.

There is no need to dress this rum up with grand claims. Malecon 1983 Esplendida is most interesting for its calm structure, its vintage reference and its classic Cuban character.

Merser Reserve Rum

In stock

Merser Reserve Rum is a blend built around carefully selected rums, mainly from the Dominican Republic. Rather than relying on an age statement, it presents itself through its style: smooth, rounded and shaped by maturation in oak casks.

The appeal lies in the way the fruit and wood sit together. The blend includes rum from pot still and column distillation, giving it a broader feel while keeping the mouthfeel soft and approachable.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Merser Reserve Rum as the kind of bottle that works well neat or over ice. Its gentle sweetness, oak influence and light spice make it a calm, enjoyable rum without pushing into an overly heavy style.

The aroma is warm, with vanilla toffee and dried fruit, lifted by subtle spice and (…)

New Grove Inception 2004 21y is a mature Mauritian molasses rum with a clear sense of place and craft. Distilled in a traditional column style and bottled at 50%, it combines depth from long ageing with a fruit-driven character that remains lively rather than heavy.

The rum has been ageing since 2004 and was assembled from two carefully selected casks, with 960 bottles released. That gives this Inception a focused identity: a 21-year-old expression shaped by time, wood influence and ripe fruit, rather than a broad everyday bottling.

Lazy Dodo VSOP Tube Incl.

In stock

Lazy Dodo VSOP is a molasses rum from Mauritius with a story that feels closely tied to place and people. It is presented as a tribute to Alain Vallet, an important figure at the Grays distillery, and is distilled in traditional columns in the village of Beau Plan.

The rum brings together the natural aromas of sugar cane and exotic fruit with 6 to 8 years of maturation. French oak, American oak and former peated whisky casks all play a role, giving the spirit warmth, roundness and a subtle smoky dimension alongside its fruit-driven core.

Malecon 1993 Esplendida

In stock

Malecon 1993 Esplendida is a Cuban molasses rum built around the 1993 distillation year. That date gives the bottle a clear point of identity: this is not presented as a generic rum, but as a release tied to a specific moment of production.

It was distilled in a multicolumn style and associated with Bourbon Barrel maturation. The supplied flavour profile points towards fruit and wood as the main impressions, supported more gently by spice, floral touches and a modest sweetness.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum we would introduce to someone looking for a Cuban bottle with a stated distillation year, a recognisable cask influence and a classic 40% strength.

The flavour profile is led by fruit and wood, giving the rum its main (…)

Malecon Rare Proof Vintage 2016

Not available for shipping

Malecon Rare Proof Vintage 2016 is a Cuban molasses-based rum made in the Spanish style and distilled entirely in columns. It has the clean, composed feel associated with that approach, but the maturation gives it enough depth to bring wood, fruit and gentle spice clearly into the picture.

Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2023, it spent at least seven years maturing in re-charred American oak barrels. That cask influence is part of its identity: toasted wood is present and recognisable, yet it does not push aside the fresher citrus and dried fruit notes.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of limited-production vintage rum we like to point out to customers who enjoy character without excessive weight. Bottled at 42.7%, and now down to the last bottles, (…)

Zafra 30y

Last one in stock!

Zafra 30y is a molasses-based rum from Panama, and its age statement is clearly the heart of the story. Thirty years of maturation give this rum a more settled, developed presence, with the influence of time and cask taking a central role.

Its bourbon barrel ageing supports a profile where fruit and wood are the main reference points. Spice, sweetness and a light floral touch sit more in the background, adding detail without taking over. The traditional column distillation also points to a classic style of rum making rather than a deliberately heavy or forceful presentation.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would introduce to someone interested in mature Panamanian rum, especially with a release of 6,720 bottles and an approachable (…)

Diplomatico Vintage 2007

On request only

Diplomatico Vintage 2007 places a specific year at the heart of this Venezuelan molasses rum. Distilled in a traditional column style and finished in sherry casks, it brings together the character of the rum itself with an extra layer of cask influence.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle stands out because it is more than a general expression of the brand. The 2007 vintage, the Venezuelan origin and the sherry finish all point towards a rum with a defined identity, where fruit and wood take a clear role without turning the presentation into something overly heavy.

With only the last bottles remaining, Diplomatico Vintage 2007 feels like a release for someone who enjoys tasting a particular dated edition rather than simply choosing a standard style. At 43%, (…)

Trinidad 18y (Cadenhead - Original Collection)

On request only

Cadenhead's Trinidad 18y is a molasses rum from Trinidad, released as part of the Original Collection. Bottled in August 2021 at 46%, it brings together an 18-year age statement, independent bottling and a clear sense of origin.

The key point here is the single cask nature of the release. Drawn from a Bourbon Barrel, it represents one individual cask rather than a broad house blend. At Drankenshop Broekmans, bottles like this are valued because they give rum drinkers a more focused look at a particular maturation and style.

Its traditional column distillation and molasses base place it firmly within Trinidad rum, while the flavour profile points mainly towards fruit and wood, supported by lighter spice, floral and sweet tones. With only the last bottles (…)

Dictador 79 Aurum Incl. Box

In stock

Dictador 79 Aurum is a Colombian rum with a profile built around sugar cane honey and pot still distillation. The available information does not place it behind an age statement, so the focus sits more naturally on its style, origin and maturation rather than on a number on the label.

Bourbon barrel ageing gives this rum a clear wooden thread, with fruit also playing an important role. Floral, spiced and gently sweet elements appear in a more supporting way. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would present this as a rum for someone who enjoys a composed, wood-accented style rather than a bottle driven purely by sweetness.

Bottled at 40%, Dictador 79 Aurum remains approachable in strength while still carrying the interest of Colombian provenance, pot still (…)

Malecon 18y Reserva Imperial Incl. Box

Its multicolumn distillation and bourbon cask maturation point towards a composed style, with fruity and woody elements at the centre of the profile. Gentler hints of spice, sweetness and floral notes sit around that core, giving the rum its shape without making it feel overstated.

New Grove Emotion 1969

Only 3 left in stock!

New Grove Emotion 1969 is a Mauritian rum with an immediate point of interest: the 1969 reference connects to the distillation year given for this release. That alone gives the bottle a very different feel from a standard everyday rum.

It is a blend, traditionally column distilled and matured in bourbon barrels. The available profile points towards a rum where wood influence and fruit are the main voices, supported more gently by spice, sweetness and a light floral touch. At 47% ABV, it carries a little extra weight without the product data presenting it as a single cask or cask strength release.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a distinctive New Grove for drinkers who want to explore rum from Mauritius with a clear origin, a striking year reference (…)

Trinidad 10y Ao (Elizabeth Yard With Finishes)

In stock

Elizabeth Yard Trinidad 10y Ao is a molasses rum from Trinidad, distilled in 2011 in a traditional column style. It spent 10 years maturing, with American oak playing an important role in its ageing and refinement.

Its appeal lies in the small-scale nature of the release. This is a single cask rum, bottled at cask strength at 50.05%, with only 98 bottles produced. Rather than presenting a broad house style, it captures the character of one individual cask.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a rum for those who enjoy focused, limited bottlings where origin, wood influence and natural strength all remain clearly visible. The fact that only the last bottles remain adds to the sense of a release with a very narrow availability.

Takamaka Le Clos Pineau 50cl

On request only

Takamaka Le Clos Pineau is a sugar cane juice rum from the Seychelles, pot still distilled and bottled at 54.8%. The Le Clos series is built around craftsmanship and cask influence, and this release takes its direction from a Pineau de Charente finish, adding a clear layer of wood, spice and fruit to its tropical foundation.

Rather than leaning on an age statement, this rum speaks through style and cask choice. The character suggested here is expressive and layered, with the Seychelles origin bringing the tropical side while the finishing cask adds depth and a more vinous accent. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we appreciate releases like this because they show how versatile sugar cane juice rum can become when the cask treatment is given a central role.

The appeal here lies in the precision of the release. One cask, only 250 bottles, and now marked as last bottles. Within the selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum that speaks to drinkers who enjoy limited bottlings with a clear sense of origin and maturation rather than a broad, blended style.

Patridom XO Islay Cask Tube Incl.

In stock

Patridom XO Islay Cask gives Dominican rum a slightly unexpected turn. At its core, it remains very much part of the Patridom range: rum from the Dominican Republic, made from locally grown sugar cane, distilled in a multi-column still and matured in the country's tropical climate.

Its distinctive voice comes from the second maturation. For this limited edition, the rum was given an extra finish in selected casks in the continental climate of warehouse 1423 in Denmark. The Islay Finish brings a smoky edge to a rum that also carries fruit, spice and a measured wood influence.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like to present to customers who are curious about what a cask finish can add to rum. With the last bottles now in view, it has (…)

Dominican Republic 2013 10y (The Nectar - Daily Dram)

Dominican Republic 2013 10y is a sugar cane juice rum with a clearly defined origin and maturation story. Distilled at AFD in the Dominican Republic, it was selected by The Nectar for the Daily Dram range after 10 years of ageing in bourbon casks and a final Virgin Oak finish.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, releases like this are valued for the way they show a specific cask rather than a broad house style. This is a single cask rum, bottled at cask strength, with only 341 bottles produced. That gives it a focused, small-batch character and a sense of directness in the glass.

Its appeal lies in the interplay between fruit, spice and noticeable oak. The Virgin Oak finish brings extra structure, while the rum remains tied to its cane juice origin and Dominican (…)

Malecon Rare Proof 13y + 2 Glasses Incl. Box

In stock

Malecon Rare Proof 13y + 2 Glasses has a more assertive personality than a classic easy-going sipping rum. Bottled at 50.5%, it keeps the strength and density suggested by the Rare Proof name, while remaining clearly built for tasting rather than simply for impact.

The supplied information points to a 2009 distillation and a 2022 bottling, after at least 13 years of maturation. Ageing in American oak bourbon casks gives a natural context to the caramel and wood notes found in the tasting description. Made from molasses and distilled in a traditional column style, it reflects a Spanish-style rum approach where maturity, spice and roundness play an important role.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this bottle in front of someone looking for a rum with (…)

Its bourbon barrel maturation supports a style that feels more composed than exuberant. The profile points to noticeable wood and fruit, with lighter touches of spice and floral character in the background. Multicolumn distillation adds to the sense of a controlled, polished rum rather than a heavy or rustic one.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for drinkers who enjoy older rum with a calm, grown-up presence. The 30th Anniversary name gives it a commemorative feel, but the (…)

American oak gives it a gentle woody frame, but the charm of this bottle lies mainly in its rounded, aromatic style. The tasting notes move through vanilla, caramel, honey, ripe banana, cinnamon and coconut, creating a warm and polished impression rather than a heavy one.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Dictador for drinkers who appreciate limited releases with a soft, fruit-led character and a sense of occasion. With only the last bottles remaining, (…)

Emb Blend 14y Continental (Velier And Scheer)

Emb Blend 14y Continental is a Jamaican rum from Velier, bottled as Velier and Scheer. Made from molasses and distilled in a pot still, it spent 14 years in a bourbon cask. Taken together, those details point to a rum with substance: mature, firm in style and shaped by a combination of distillate character and cask ageing.

It is bottled at cask strength, with an alcohol level of 64.8%. That strength gives the rum a serious presence and makes it a bottle to approach with time and attention. At Drankenshop Broekmans, Velier releases such as this are valued for the way they show rum in a more direct, less softened form.

The Continental reference in the name gives this edition its own place within the bottling. With 14 years of age, bourbon cask maturation and (…)

Panama 2006 14y (The Nectar - Daily Dram)

Panama 2006 14y from Daily Dram is a clearly defined independent rum: distilled in 2006, bottled in November 2020, and matured for 14 years in a bourbon barrel. It is a molasses-based Panamanian rum with a precise identity rather than a broad house-style blend.

Its appeal lies in the way the release captures one individual cask. Bottled by The Nectar under the Daily Dram label, this is a single cask rum at cask strength, with only 272 bottles drawn from the barrel. That makes it a focused snapshot of maturation, especially now that only the last bottles remain.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, bottlings like this are selected for customers who enjoy exploring rum beyond the standard range. The multicolumn distillation gives the spirit a clean foundation, while the (…)
