About PHILIPPONNAT
Philipponnat is a Champagne house from the French Champagne region that dates back to 1910, when Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat founded the house in Mareuil-sur-Ay. The family history in the region itself goes back even further, to the 16th century, although the modern Champagne house took shape around the beginning of the twentieth century. Nowadays, Philipponnat is part of the Champagne Lanson-BCC group, but the character of the house is still determined by a headstrong and traditional approach. Philipponnat is especially known for the use of a relatively high percentage of Pinot Noir in their blends, which results in a distinctive and often somewhat more powerful style of Champagne. The Clos des Goisses, a vineyard with a steep limestone slope, is the flagship of Philipponnat. This unique vineyard lies directly on the Marne and produces grapes each year that are used for an exclusive vintage Champagne, known by the same name. In addition to this top cuvée, Philipponnat produces a wide range of Champagnes, varying from non-vintage brut to rosé and millésime Champagnes. The house opts for partial oak aging and uses only grapes from the best plots of the region. This results in a recognizable, rich, and complex style that has become a constant value over the years for lovers of Champagne with depth.
