Dom Ruinart Rosé 2009 is a champagne shaped by a year of contrast. Hail, rain and wind marked the flowering period, but a dry summer followed and allowed the grapes to ripen fully before the mid-September harvest. Moderate sunshine and cool temperatures helped lift the fruit aromas while preserving the acidity that the house looks for in this cuvée.The blend is led by 85% Chardonnay Grands Crus, mainly from the Côte des Blancs villages of Cramant, Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger, with Sillery in the Montagne de Reims also included. The remaining 15% is Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru of Aÿ, giving the rosé its red-fruited dimension. With an Extra Brut dosage of 4 g/l, the wine keeps a precise, refined line rather than leaning on sweetness.
