Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2019 comes from one of the clearly defined sites of the Barolo DOCG: the Cerequio vineyard, set between La Morra and Barolo. This is a wine built around place. The nebbiolo comes from a three-hectare parcel with vines planted between 1972 and 1990, at around 320 metres altitude with a south-southwest exposure.Michele Chiarlo describes 2019 as a classic vintage. Winter water reserves, spring rain, summer warmth and favourable day-night temperature differences in September and early October shaped a lower-yielding harvest of high-quality grapes. The fruit was hand-picked, and the wine matured for at least three years, including two years in medium-sized oak casks before further bottle ageing.

Michele Chiarlo is an Italian wine producer from Piemonte, founded in 1956 by Michele Chiarlo himself. The family company has been active since the beginning in one of the most highly regarded wine regions of Northern Italy, and has strongly focused on producing wines that reflect the character of the region. The vineyards of Michele Chiarlo are mainly located in the most famous Piemontese zones, including Barolo and Barbaresco for the red wines from the Nebbiolo grape, but also in regions such as Asti for Barbera and Moscato, among others. Quality and terroir are central in the winery's approach; a lot of attention is paid to sustainable viticultural practices and a careful selection of grapes. The assortment of Michele Chiarlo ranges from fresh, floral white wines to structured, complex red wines that are typical for Piemonte. The wines of the house are known for their balance and accessibility, and are appreciated worldwide.
