The wine comes from 41 hectares of vineyards, largely on the Mousset hill overlooking the Gironde. That setting is part of its identity: deep gravel for Cabernet Sauvignon, more clay-rich slopes for Merlot and limestone-influenced parcels for Cabernet Franc. The Gironde helps moderate temperature and air flow, particularly relevant in a warm, early year such as 2020.

Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2016 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon from Pauillac in Bordeaux. It comes from the same terroirs as the grand vin, with the 2016 blend made up of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its structure, while the Merlot brings a fuller, more rounded presence.
The 2016 growing season in Pauillac was shaped by contrast: a very wet winter and spring, followed by an exceptionally dry summer and autumn. According to the producer, the dry conditions kept the grapes small and contributed to concentration. Harvest took place from 28 September to 15 October, starting with the Merlot parcels, and each grape variety and plot was vinified separately.

Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2020 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon in Pauillac, made from the same estate vineyards as the château's grand vin. In this vintage, merlot forms the largest part of the blend, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and a small proportion of carmenère. It gives the wine a rounder, more supple expression while keeping the structure and identity of Pauillac clearly in view.
The grapes come from the estate's approximately 41 hectares on the Mousset gravel ridge near the Gironde, where deep gravel, sand, clay and limestone all play a role. Vinification takes place parcel by parcel in the Clerc Milon cellar, with gravity used to handle the fruit and must gently.
