Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2022 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon, from Pauillac in Bordeaux. It comes from the same estate as the grand vin and is produced within the Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. range. Cabernet sauvignon leads the 2022 blend, supported by a generous proportion of merlot, with smaller amounts of cabernet franc, carmenère and petit verdot.Its Pauillac origin is central to the wine. The grapes come from the terroir of Château Clerc Milon, around the croupe de Mousset near the Gironde, where deep gravel is an important feature alongside limestone and clay elements. The 2022 growing season brought plenty of sunshine, dry conditions and smaller berries, which the château links to concentration and balance.
Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is aged for 12 months in used French barriques. That choice supports the wine without letting new oak dominate. The emphasis remains on dark fruit, freshness, structure and the graphite-like, spicy nuances associated with this style of Pauillac.
